Cinnamon Sticks: Organic


Cinnamon: The Amazing Spice That Can Help Support Healthy Blood Sugar Levels, Blood Lipids, and Blood Pressure

Cinnamon has been used for thousands of years as a spice and medicine. It’s mentioned in the Bible as an ingredient in the oils used to anoint Moses, and as a token of friendship. Mourners burned cinnamon on funeral pyres in ancient Rome in order to cover up the smell of burning flesh.

In ancient Egypt, cinnamon was used as a medicine and an embalming agent, and at times it was even considered more precious than gold. It was also popular in China, and is mentioned in one of the earliest books on Chinese botanical medicine. 1

Today cinnamon is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine (traditional Indian medicine) to treat diabetes in India. And recently Richard Anderson and his team at the US Department of Agriculture’s Human Nutrition Research Center in Beltsville, Maryland, discovered the scientific evidence that demonstrates how cinnamon serves as an important antioxidant, and is beneficial in the prevention and control of glucose intolerance and diabetes. 2

In a recent study, people reduced their blood sugar levels by as much as 29 percent in just 40 days. That's with NO drugs, NO diet changes—just plain old cinnamon!

How does cinnamon work?

Data from the Agricultural Research Unit in Maryland was first published in the New Scientist in August 2000. The researchers found that cinnamon triggered the ability of fat cells in diabetic individuals to respond to insulin, and it also enhanced the removal of glucose.

Cinnamon contains a water-soluble polyphenol compound called MHCP (methylhydroxy chalcone polymer), which is partly responsible for its health benefits. In unpublished test tube experiments, researchers found that MHCP mimics insulin, activates its receptor, and works synergistically with insulin in cells. When mice were given MHCP, their glucose levels fell dramatically. 3

Then, to see how it would work on humans, Alam Khan, who was a postdoctoral fellow in Anderson’s lab, organized a study in Pakistan. Volunteers with type II diabetes were given one, three, or six grams of cinnamon powder a day in capsules after meals.

All responded within weeks, with blood sugar levels that were on average 20% lower than a control group. Some even achieved normal blood sugar levels. Blood sugar started creeping up again after the diabetics stopped taking cinnamon.

Cinnamon has additional benefits. It also lowered blood levels of fats and “bad” cholesterol, which are also partly controlled by insulin. And in test tube experiments, it neutralized free radicals which are elevated in diabetics. 4

Active ingredients

Anderson’s team found that cinnamon contains antioxidants called polyphenols that boost levels of three key proteins. Those proteins are important in insulin signaling, glucose transport, and inflammatory response.    In another study, the scientists investigated cinnamon’s chemistry and found that proanthocyanidin—a type of polyphenol—may have insulin-like properties. 2

Additionally, a group at the University of Calgary, Canada, found that phenolic acids, which are a major component of cinnamon extract, lowers blood glucose levels by enhancing glucose transport. The researchers concluded that cinnamon might be a valuable candidate for a new anti-diabetic drug. 5

Scientific studies:


Insulin resistance—also called Syndrome X—is a silent condition that increases the chances of developing diabetes and heart disease. After you eat, the food is broken down into glucose, the simple sugar that is the main source of energy for the body’s cells. But your cells cannot use glucose without insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, which directs cells to remove excess glucose from the bloodstream. Insulin helps the cells take in glucose and convert it to energy. When the pancreas does not make enough insulin or the body is unable to use the insulin that is present, the cells can’t use glucose. Excess glucose builds up in the bloodstream, setting the stage for diabetes.

Diabetes can go undetected for up to 40 years, or until serious complications begin to surface and the pancreas just can’t keep up with the demand for insulin.  Some people produce two, three, or four times the normal amount of insulin.  Yet, because the cells have lost their sensitivity to the hormone, they require even more of it to maintain normal glucose levels. The end result is often type II diabetes.

Type II diabetes kills 100 million people prematurely each year. In patients with the condition, fat and muscle cells gradually lose their ability to respond to insulin. As a result, glucose builds up in the blood, causing symptoms such as fatigue, weight loss, blurred vision and neuropathy (resulting in numbness in extremities), and circulatory problems.

The good news is that cinnamon extract dramatically helps to reduce risk of insulin resistance and type II diabetes.

In addition to the studies already mentioned, other recent studies found that:

  • Cinnamaldehyde, a fat soluble cinnamon compound, decreased blood glucose levels and total cholesterol and triglyceride levels in diabetic laboratory animals. 6

  • Cinnamon bark extract improved glucose metabolism in animals that were fed fructose. 7

  • Cinnamon extract given at different doses to diabetic animal models for six weeks had a regulatory role in blood glucose level and lipids, and it may have also exerted a blood glucose-suppressing effect by improving insulin sensitivity or slowing absorption of carbohydrates in the small intestine. 8


In an evaluation of the antibacterial activity of 21 plant essential oils against six bacterial species, cinnamon came out on top. The selected essential oils were screened against six bacteria: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus vulgaris, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus. Cinnamon oil was found to inhibit all of them, even at low concentrations, and was determined to be a good source of antibacterial agents. 9

  • When cinnamon extract was tested against a resistant Candida species in five patients with HIV infection and oral candidiasis, three of the five patients exhibited improvement of their Candida infection. 10

  • A recent Chinese study of cinnamon extracts found they were effective in inhibiting the growth of various bacteria including: Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Samonella typhymurium, and fungi including yeasts (four species of Candida, C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. glabrata, and C. krusei), and molds. 11


As an anti-inflammatory agent, cinnamon may be useful in preventing or mitigating arthritis as well as cardiovascular disease. And as scientists increasingly understand the relationship between inflammation and insulin function in Alzheimer’s (causing some to refer to the neurodegenerative disease as “type 3 diabetes”), cinnamon’s ability to block inflammation and enhance insulin function may make it useful in combating that disease as well. 12

Helps regulate blood pressure

Many nutrients and nutraceuticals—including cinnamon extract—that enhance insulin sensitivity and/or reduce circulating insulin concentrations are capable of lowering blood pressure. When cinnamon was added to the diets of laboratory animals that included sucrose for 3-4 weeks, their blood pressure was reduced to the same levels as the animals that ate a non-sucrose diet. 13

About Vanilla

For centuries, vanilla beans (pods) have been one of the most familiar flavours, fundamental to western cuisine. Commonly used to flavour desserts, beverages, milk products and coffee, vanilla is one of the most loved flavours of the western palate.

It is believed, the Totonaca people of Mexico were the first cultivators of vanilla, during MesoAmerican times. They believed this exotic fruit had been bestowed upon them by the Gods, and continue to cultivate vanilla today.

In the 14th century, the Spanish conquistadors under Cortez, watched Montezuma, Emperor of the Aztecs, pulverize vanilla beans, combine them with chocolate and serve it as a drink in golden goblets to his most honoured guests. The Spanish caught on quickly and by the middle of the 15th century, were importing it to Europe to use as a flavour in the manufacture of chocolate.

As European explorers and their attendant botanical recorders and collectors combed the forests of Central and South America, vanilla beans became more common in Europe. Europeans followed the example of the tribes in the New World and used vanilla beans in the production of medicine, as a nerve stimulant and as an aphrodisiac. They also invented a few of their own uses, including the flavouring of another New World product, tobacco.

By the early 1800’s vanilla plants were growing in botanical collections in Germany and France. Horticulturists were experimenting with conditions for its growth. From Europe it was transported to Reunion, Mauritius and the Malagasy Republic. In the new tropical colonies, slave labour discovered that hand pollination of the flowers was necessary to produce vanilla beans.

From these points, vanilla plants were taken to Indonesia, the Seychelles, and the Comoros Islands. At approximately the same time, vanilla was introduced as a crop in Martinique and Guadeloupe in the Caribbean.

Today, vanilla beans grows within 20 degrees north and south of the Equator in the tropical regions of the world.

Madagascar and Indonesia grow the majority of the world’s vanilla beans. Other countries around the Pacific rim which grow and supply vanilla to the world include Papua New Guinea, Tahiti, Philippines, Fiji, Tonga, India, China, Guatemala and Costa Rica.

Our certified organic vanilla beans come in glass bottles with about 1 to 2 beans to the gram.  25g has about 15 to 20 beans.  They are organic from an indigenous grower association of Totonucans from Papantla Mexico.  This is the home of vanilla where it originally came from and this indigenous group domesticated the vanilla plant.    Mexico is the only place in the world where the vanilla plant is naturally pollinated everywhere else it has to be pollinated by hand..

They are very moist premium vanilla beans with excellent long-lasting aroma and taste.

Add them to smoothies, ice creams, sauces & chocolate recipes.

Resveratrol is a type of polyphenol that can be found naturally in a variety of sources including grapes, Japanese knotweed (giant knotweed), berries, peanuts, dark chocolate and tea.
The French Paradox: Resveratrol, a compound found in red wine, first gained publicity in the early nineties when the CBS television show, 60-Minutes, investigated why people living in France, despite eating diets high in saturated fats, had lower rates of coronary heart disease than people living in the United States. The report concluded that a higher consumption of red wine may play a role in lowering coronary heart disease. Since then, research has pointed to resveratrol, a substance contained in grape skins and many other plants, as the compound with the possibility of preventing or delaying coronary heart disease, in addition to various other health benefits.

Trans-Resveratrol boasts a long list of benefits including cardiovascular health, anti-inflammatory properties, the prevention of joint disease, improved athletic endurance, and the possibility of preventing and eliminating certain types of cancers.

Achieving Great Health in 90 Days or less is one of the most inspiring live food and health book primers that I have seen. Bob McCauley distinctly understands the mystery of creating optimal vibrant health. He shares it through the medium of his own experience, which is the real foundation of healing.

He has isolated the fundamentals of health: becoming alkaline, raw foods, the use of super foods Spirulina and Chlorella, adequate hydration and ionized water, probiotics, exercise, and a positive mental attitude.

The power of healing is about the broad strokes, rather than the details or obsessing about health. This book is excellent for those making the transition into live foods. If you are sick it is because you allow yourself to remain sick. By that I mean that the human body is capable of curing itself of any disease. Unless you are terminally ill, the average person can Achieve Great Health in 90 days or less. In most cases, even those diagnosed as “terminally ill” can turn their health around in several months if they are determined to live at any cost.

We get sick and prematurely age ourselves by turning our bodies acidic. We turn ourselves acid by living on a primarily cooked-food diet, not properly hydrating our body, consuming substances such as processed foods that barely resemble anything nutritious, while at the same time doing almost nothing to alkalize ourselves. When we become acidic we are wide open to disease of any and all kinds. If we are sick, our bodies are acidic. If we are seriously ill, our body pH is dramatically lower than it ought to be. This is a dangerous, sometimes life-threatening situation that cannot be ignored. But it can easily be remedied if we become resolute about changing our health.

The protocol for permanently ridding the body of disease and living in true health is quite simple. We should only consume Spirulina and Chlorella , Raw Foods , Ionized Water and probiotics. I wrote this book for everyone, especially the average person who lives on a meat and potato, junk-food, fast-food, processed-food diet or perhaps likes to barbecue on the weekends. Many of us don't realize that the world of true health even exists, that it actually is a place you can take your life to if you chose. True health is found in the raw , not cooked world of food, and it is one seldom visited by most people.

As for the health conscious community at large, this book will make perfect sense to most of them because their minds are already open to new possibilities. Everyday when we wake, we do one of two things: improve our health or encourage disease. The choice is always our own.

Many questions have arisen about my health protocol since writing COABB and I have tried to answer them in this book. One of the most common questions has been: If I go with this protocol, how long will it take till I am healthy? The answer is 90 days or less, depending on how badly you want to be healthy. This can be achieved regardless of how sick you may be at the moment, short of being rived with some disease that has placed you at death's door. If you do not properly hydrate, detoxify and alkalize your body, you will never be healthy. It is simply impossible. Only algae, raw foods and Ionized Water can achieve this quickly, especially if you are an adult with a lifetime of accumulated toxic waste in your body that has completely acidified it.

What I mean by Great Health is robust health, the kind of health that only a few of us will ever experience. Simply moving to a Raw-food Diet will allow your body to remain healthy. But without the incredible rejuvenating, body-building nutrients of Spirulina and Chlorella, along with consuming Ionized Water and Probiotics , exercising daily and developing a Positive Mental Attitude, Great Heath is not possible.

This book is the culmination of my knowledge and experience with human health and how to get there. I am not a formally trained medical, health or nutritional professional in any way. What I know of health is what I have read, experienced and spoken with others about. I offer in these pages no medical advice, but rather guidance and ruminations about health. I know almost nothing about medicine because medicine does not lead to health. This book is essentially one person's opinion, that of my own. However, I challenge anyone to find flaw with the basic tenets of my health philosophy, which is that water and raw foods rule .

My Journey to Perfect Health

I got my first warning sign that I was heading for physical ruin in 1992 after a stressful move from New Jersey to Michigan . I became quite ill over a 12 hour period and had to be taken to the hospital. It was likely a kidney or gall stone, but they never determined exactly what it was. It happened again one year later. I was on the road to the demise of my health. I was a lacto-vegetarian; I consumed dairy products , but no meat at all. I understand now that I was destroying my body with a cooked-food diet that was not providing me with any rejuvenating nutrients and was slowly acidifying every inch of me. I was dying prematurely as does everyone who lives on a cooked-food diet.

Most people don't make it to 50 before they're on some kind of medication, which is the first white flag they throw up as they surrender themselves, piece by piece, to disease, premature aging and unnatural death. Once you submit yourself to medicine, medical procedures, surgery and allopathic doctors, you are giving up and allowing yourself to become a health lemming. Your friends and family have diseases just like yours; thus you assume that disease is an inevitable part of life. Everyone else eats cooked foods, goes to a doctor and gets pills, so if you don't something must be wrong with you.

The truth I have discovered over the last eight years is that when you flow with nature and do the things that nature demands of all living things, disease does not exist and the idea of living a “long life” of only 90 years will disappear. Science tells us that the human body is built to live at least 120 – 150 years, yet it is rare for anyone to reach that age. If we can indeed rejuvenate ourselves at a cellular level, meaning that our cells are constantly provided with sufficient water and nutrients, the body itself can theoretically live indefinitely. There are many intriguing notions and possibilities in considering this principle. I will leave it to you to speculate on what those possibilities could mean for you, but the conventional notion of a lifespan will seem silly to you by the time you've finished reading this book.

I am in my forties and have the body I had in my twenties. I can run like I did when I was in high school. I have gotten stronger and more limber since moving to this health protocol . I have more stamina and endurance than anyone I know who is my age or older. I look like a person ought to look for my age, i.e. youthful, not what we are accustomed to seeing in people my age. All these things are quite special, but I am not special. Anyone can do what I am doing. Anyone can take their life to the next level and beyond. Anyone can stop putting walls in their path if they chose to.

Changing your life in a fundamental way begins with self respect. If you have that, you have the intelligence and integrity to realize that our many appetites put us in a painful, early grave and we only cheat ourselves out of God 's most precious gift, our health and therefore our lives.

The cure for all disease is found at your local supermarket in the produce section. The cure for any disease will never be found in a laboratory and that is hard to accept because science has always dazzled us; and for many has become the answer to all our problems. Three things must be accomplished if we expect to cure ourselves of any disease. We must hydrate, alkalize and detoxify the body. It is the recurrent theme of this book because it is the recurrent theme of health. This book will tell you exactly how to accomplish this so that regardless of what disease you may have, you can rid it from your body.

Attaining my current level of health has been difficult, although I can hardly begin to describe to you how wonderful I feel each day. I have come far, but my journey to perfect health continues because there are always areas of our lives we can improve on. Perfect health is the point when the body is totally regenerating itself every moment, when biological aging has stopped completely and each organ of the body is functioning to its capacity. Few of us ever truly achieve this. I am not there yet and still have far to go. But considering where I was and how I felt then compared to how I feel now, this sure feels like perfect health. You need to hydrate your body because there is nothing more important regarding human health than a properly hydrated body, which translates into sufficiently hydrated cells throughout the body. If the body's cells are not healthy, we cannot be healthy. Cellular health equals human health.

Ionized Water has four qualities that are perfect for the body's health: Antioxidant , Alkalinity, Hydration and Detoxification. Start slowly and increase the potency of the Ionized Water you consume until you are drinking 1.5 – 2 gallons per day. Drink it all day except around mealtime. An extra trip or two to the bathroom is an extraordinarily cheap price to pay for your most precious possession: your health. You are the only person who can consume enough water to start on the road back to the health you were born with, that which God intended you to have, not the body you have transformed it into from a lifetime of eating primarily dead foods that are acidic, dehydrating and void of any rejuvenating properties.

Hydration is the first step toward reversing chronic illnesses and strengthening the immune system . It is our first defense against disease and the very keystone of human health.

There is a certain calm and stillness that only water offers. It is impossible to sit by tranquil waters and not feel at peace. Herman Melville mused that “ Meditation and water are wedded for ever.” He could not have been more right. We came from the sea.

Spirulina and Chlorella Summary

The most powerful foods on earth are Spirulina Pacifica and Chlorella Pyrenoidosa. They compliment one another in many ways because they are completely different foods with different nutrients. Spirulina is an extremely pure food, 95% digestible, extremely high in the Vitamin B-complex, iron, calcium and essential fatty acids such as Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), which is excellent for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis or bursitis. Spirulina is an excellent food to consume before a workout because of the explosive energy it provides to the body.

Chlorella has incredible anti-cancer properties. Its unique fiber is great for the digestion, as well as heavy metal and synthetic toxin removal. It has large amounts of nucleic acids (RNA/DNA ), which, along with amino acids (protein), are the building blocks of our cells. Chlorella can even be used topically on cuts, scrapes, infections, even serious wounds, as can Spirulina .

The second step in Achieving Great Health is to add these superfoods to your diet. Start slowly, gradually increasing them until you reach a dosage of at least eight grams of each daily. (See Appendix: Spirulina, Chlorella & Water Dosages .) You can never consume too much Spirulina and Chlorella as long as they are raw and their enzymes are intact. As you increase your dosage, gradually reduce your intake of protein from traditional sources, such as meat , fish, eggs, soy and dairy products . Algae is best consumed with each meal because of its high protein content, the highest percentage of any foods known with 18 different amino acids that are in the proper ratio to one another. Protein must be consumed with everything you eat for proper digestion and nutrient absorption. Most vegetarians lack sufficient protein in their diet.

Great Health will be nearly impossible to achieve without these two powerful whole foods at the center of your diet.

Disease always resides in the body of the cooked foodist whether the symptoms are there or not.

Everyone wants to be healthy. No one wants to be sick or even divulge they ever get sick. Sadly, most will remain sick because of their refusal to leave the cooked-food world behind and start putting in their body what naturally belongs in it, that which can only make them healthy. Only what comes from nature will ever make us healthy. There is no substitute for nature because it is God 's ever-moving hand. And no matter what man creates to try and make himself healthy, it will only end in failure. God's temple can only be properly served and maintained by the raw foods that are produced by God's creation, that which we call nature .

The body can cure itself of any disease. If you are sick it is because you allow yourself to remain sick. Hydration, alkalization and detoxification are the three keys to preventing and curing us of any disease. Nothing is more important to the body than water and there is no better water for the human body than Ionized Water . It is a powerful antioxidant, as well as extremely alkalizing, hydrating and detoxifying. Fasting with water is the healthiest thing we can do for the body.

Spirulina and Chlorella are the two most powerful whole foods in the world. They are perfect proteins and have the broadest array of nutrients of any foods. We should replace our traditional animal protein sources, meat , fish, eggs and dairy with these two nutraceuticals, which, like all raw foods, provide the body with the proper nutrition so the body can heal itself.

Probiotics ( acidophilus and bifidus ) are friendly bacteria that help the body assimilate nutrients and keep the digestive tract clean and alkalized. They are crucial to human health and should be consumed with everything we eat.

All cooked foods are acidic, poisonous and addictive. We eat them because we like their taste and because we have been conditioned all our lives to believe they are healthy for us. Raw foods are alkaline and rejuvenate the body by providing the body with nutrients that have not been either destroyed or chemically altered by cooking. Cooking is the greatest destroyer of our health. Raw foods contain enzymes which are responsible for every movement, action or thought of the human body and mind. Without enzymes, life would not be possible.

Regular vigorous exercise is essential if we wish to achieve robust health. We should work each of our 650 muscles every day. Cultivating a positive mental attitude is also critical to our health. Acidosis is the basic foundation of all disease. We need to understand the simple process of alkalizing our body and the important role a properly alkalized body plays in restoring and maintaining our overall health. Our glands and organs function properly in exact proportion to the amount of alkaline and acid levels in our system.
The Impact Of Acidosis On Your Organs:

The heart is one of the most alkaline-dependent organs in the body. It is partly enervated by the vagus nerve which functions best in an alkaline environment. Correct heartbeat is altered by acid wastes. These wastes rob the blood of proper oxygenation and degeneration of the heart follows. An alkaline system creates an ideal heart function.
Digestive difficulties (belching, bloating, sensitivity at the waist, intestinal gas, regurgitation, hiccups, lack or limitation of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, colic in children) may indicate vagus nerve problems and possible hiatus hernia syndrome, which can produce acid residue throughout the system. Hiatus hernia can quickly reduce necessary hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Without proper hydrochloric acid breakdown of foods, the foods become too acidic.
The liver has over three hundred functions, including processing acid toxins from the blood and producing numerous alkaline enzymes for the system and is your first line of defense against any poisons. All the nourishment obtained through the gastrointestinal tract enters the blood by way of the liver. The load on the liver is much heavier when acid waste products are constantly floating in the blood. If the liver becomes too congested with protein acid wastes, death is imminent.
The pancreas is highly dependent on correct alkaline diet. All aspects of pancreatic function reduce excess acidity and regulate blood sugar balance. To have proper blood sugar balance, you must maintain a primarily alkaline-forming diet.
Small Intestines
The Peyer's Patches, in the upper portion of the small intestines are crucial to life. They are essential for proper assimilation of food and producing lymphocytes for the lymphatic system's wide ranging nodal network. They also produce large amounts of the enzyme "chyle", which is a major alkalizing substance. The uninterrupted flow of chyle into the system is crucial. Too much acid waste production from acid-forming foods is a great burden on the Peyer's Patches, which lessens the production of chyle.
In an adult, about 1 liter of blood per minute passes through the kidneys. By executing their primary duty, the kidneys keep the blood alkaline and extract acid. Kidneys that are over-stressed with too much acidity create kidney stones, which are composed of waste acid cells and mineral salts that have become gummed together in a waste acid substance. Therefore, by reducing acid-forming products from entering the body, the chances are better that you can avoid this painful condition.
The colon must be kept clean of accumulated acid wastes. Poisons collect on the colon walls and in cases of diarrhea or constipation will harden and reabsorb into the bloodstream. Good bowel action (complete elimination) must be done at least 2 times per day.
Lymphatic System
There are 600-700 lymph glands in the body. Lymph fluid carries nutrition to the cells and removes acid waste products. Lymph fluid flows best in an alkaline environment. When the body is overly acidic, it slows, creating one of the most chronic, long-term, life-threatening situations. Gradually, the lymph dries and begins to form very tiny to very large adhesions throughout the tissues. These adhesions can interfere not only with lymph fluid but with blood flow as well. Hindered lymph flow increases tissue acid storage. Not drinking enough purified water will also slow the lymph. Waste products from foods that are not properly digested are reabsorbed into general circulation via the lymphatic ducts of the small intestine. In addition, bowel movements that do not completely clear the body of its daily poisons are also reabsorbed.

How Negative Emotions Create Acidity:
Have you ever been so upset with someone or something that you get an upset stomach? All negative emotions create an acidic environment. Have you ever heard anyone say you are letting your problems "eat away at you" or "get the best of you"?
Fear is the underlining cause of most disease. It will undermine your life and your health. Fear causes anger. Anger causes hate. Hate will consume you with continual suffering. Love and understanding cleanse and heal the body creating an alkaline environment within you.
What Can You Do?

1. Exercise
Moderate exercise is alkalizing to the body. Excessive exercise (past the point of exhaustion) can create an acidic problem due to lactic acid buildup. People who are acidic usually feel worse from exercise because their detoxification organs are not working properly due to excessive acid in the tissues. Yet without exercise, acid and toxin buildup are likely.
2. Quality Air
As the saying goes - "every step you take, every breath you take ...".
If your environment is polluted with chemicals, dust, smoke, pet dander, mold, micro-organisms, then much of your energy reserve will go just in detoxifying. Today, even in the forest and near the ocean, the amount of negative ions are much lower than they were only a few decades ago. Also, since we sealed buildings to conserve energy and started making our homes and furnishings with synthetic materials, the number of cases of asthma and chronic fatigue have risen dramatically.
3. Food Cobining
Food combining is key to creating an alkaline environment because when you combine properly you reduce putrefaction in the body creating a more alkaline condition.
4. Alkalising Dietary Supplementation
When you purchase supplements you must ask yourself what your goal is and will these supplements actually help alkalize and remove acid from your body. Green drinks are very helpful in filtering out toxins and acidity in the body.
5. Alkaline Diet
Eating an alkaline diet is very powerful in making everything else work better. In general, it is important to eat a diet that contains both acidic and alkalizing foods. People vary, but for most, the ideal diet is 75 percent alkalizing and 25 percent acidifying (foods by volume).

About the Author

Bob McCauley, CNC (Robert F., Jr.) was raised in Lansing, Michigan and attended Michigan State University (BA, 1980 in Journalism).  He has travelled extensively, both domestically and abroad, visiting over 32 countries. How to use DMSO to Relieve Pain, Increase Circulation, Repair Tissue Damage & Fight Degenerative Diseases

DMSO - dimethyl sulfoxide - is a simple by-product of the wood industry and is a solvent that can be produced in industrial or pharmaceutical grade.  Sulphur, the 4th most abundant mineral in the human body and has a long history as a healing agent. For centuries mankind has soaked in sulphur rich, mineral hot springs to help heal a variety of ailments. DMSO has variously been called a 'miracle' compound capable of relieving pain, diminishing swelling, reducing inflammation, encouraging healing and restoring normal cell function.  One of the most well known and exotic properties of this solvent is its ability to penetrate living tissue and transport other medicines in their integral state deep into the body.  For this reason, DMSO has been used by many in the treatment of burns and sprains, sports injuries, paralysis, arthritis, cancer, scleroderma and many of the degenerative diseases.

American doctor, Stanley W Jacob has worked with DMSO for many years and is considered one of the foremost authorities on the substance in the world.  He states the following with regard to the therapeutic potential of DMSO: "We've barely scratched the surface [of DMSO's capabilities], for this is a new principle in medicine.  We've only had three new principles in our century - the antibiotic principle, the cortisone principle, and now the DMSO principle - and the DMSO principle is the only one of our generation.  Despite all the controversy, my guess is that history will record it this way."   

When US Governor George Wallace travelled across the country to find pain relief from DMSO administered by Dr Jacob, the reputation of this painkilling solvent got a tremendous boost2.  Wallace had been confined to a wheelchair since he was wounded in a 1972 assassination attempt while campaigning for the Democratic nomination for President at Laurel, Maryland.  Wallace's discomforture was located in his flank, a condition which reportedly disappeared by faithfully dabbing DMSO over the affected area.

DMSO Goes Public

On 23rd March 1980 and again on 6th July of that year, the popular television program 60 Minutes reported on DMSO.  In a presentation entitled "The Riddle of DMSO", presenter Mike Wallace covered the anecdotal patient history of the solvent and interviewed its main critics at the FDA.  As a result of the broadcast, which reached the homes of 70 million viewers, the switchboards at Dr Jacob's office and others associated with the program were immediately swamped with up to 10,000 people figuratively crying, "Save me!  Save me from my pain!"  Pain victims sought out other physicians around the United States who were known to prescribe DMSO.  They arrived in droves.  Telephones in the offices of doctors and pharmacies in Florida, Oregon, Louisiana and Nevada rang busily for several days following the Sunday evening broadcast of 60 Minutes.  A subsequent wire service report about the FDA's refusal to approve DMSO appeared around the country in Tuesday's newspapers.  In his program footnote, presenter Mike Wallace stated, "Tomorrow morning in Washington, the House Committee on Ageing begins an inquiry into why DMSO is not available to all Americans for any appropriate ailment, including plain and simple pain."  The numbers of letters and telephone calls that came into congressional offices enquiring about the cause of DMSO unavailability were massive.  A sampling of the letters sent to just one congressman, Claude Pepper of Florida, are found in chapter 4 of my book.

DMSO - Bane of the Establishment

Dimethyl sulfoxide has had a battered thirty-year history completely out of proportion to its true track record.  Officially, DMSO has never been approved for widespread medicinal use because medical authorities declare that the quality of medical trials and research on the substance has not been up to statutory requirements.  Dr J Richard Crout, the chief FDA opponent to DMSO, reported that double-blind tests3 were mandatory before approval would be forthcoming from his agency.  Yet researchers cannot conduct double-blind tests on DMSO because of the distinctive odour produced by the product after application.  Within a few minutes of putting it on your skin, you can taste it on your tongue; it penetrates the skin and runs through the bloodstream so effectively.  The alternative reason for not approving dimethyl sulfoxide, according to some DMSO proponents, could also be a simple question of economics: DMSO, painkiller extraordinary, is a common by-product of the wood industry and cannot be patented to great profit by the pharmaceutical industry.  Ironically, even drug companies have had their DMSO INDs turned down.  

The Medical Community Divided

Because of the general public outcry about its ban in the United States, and of course because of Mike Wallace and his 60 Minutes, DMSO has become a household word and medical-political cause célèbre.  Those doctors among us who have been using the drug for twenty-six to twenty-eight years never dreamed that it would become a focal point in the continuing battle between individual freedom and the power of government.  My colleagues and I have been criticized, ridiculed and even persecuted in some medical circles for promoting and using DMSO.  But I, and others like me, have come to the conclusion, having observed establishment thinking for forty years, that the only way a truly revolutionary treatment principle can be brought to the patient is by appealing to the general population through the information media.  It is for this reason that I wrote the book, DMSO - Nature's Healer.

In spite of the rumours, DMSO has not been found unsafe for humans.  Any side effects are merely minor irritations.  DMSO stops bacterial growth.  It relieves pain.  As a vasodilator, the drug enlarges small blood vessels, increasing the circulation to an area.  It softens scar tissue and soothes burns.  DMSO's anti-inflammatory activity relieves the swelling and inflammation of arthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, and other musculoskeletal injuries.  DMSO has been found to benefit human body cells, tissues and organs in ways not yet properly understood by medical science.  For this reason, I believe DMSO is the 21st century's newest healing principle with a very wide range of usefulness.  It represents an entirely different way of treating diseases.

DMSO and Cancer

Cancer seems to respond well to DMSO.  At Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, Charlotte Friend MD has turned cancerous cells into harmless, normal ones in the test tube by putting them in touch with the DMSO solutions.  DMSO is routinely used by alternative cancer clinics in Mexico to transport laetrile intravenously into the body.  Because of extremely promising clinical results, research is still ongoing on a privately funded basis into DMSO's potential role in the breaking up of tumours and the killing of metastatic cancer cells in its own right.  Yet the United States Food & Drug Administration and the UK Medicines Control Agency continue to forbid the advertising and retailing of DMSO for any medicinal purposes save one: for the treatment of the rare urinary bladder condition, interstitial cystitis.  

As reported in the Journal of Clinical Oncology in November 1988, twenty cancer patients with extravasation of anthracycline (destructive secretions from tissues of the toxic chemotherapeutic agent anthracycline onto the recipient's skin with the potential to form cancerous ulcers) were treated on a single-arm pilot study with topically-applied 99% DMSO and observed for three months with regular examinations and photographs.  DMSO was topically applied to approximately twice the surface area affected by the extravasation and allowed to air dry.  This was repeated every six hours for fourteen days.  In no patient did extravasation progress to cancerous ulceration or require surgical intervention, as is usual with this toxic chemotherapeutic agent for cancer.  The authors of this report suggest that ulceration was statistically likely to have occurred in at least 17% of these patients.  The only side effects reported from DMSO usage included a burning feeling on applications, subsequently associated with itch, redness, and mild scaling.  Six patients reported a characteristic breath odour associated with oysters.  The oncologists stated that topical DMSO appears to be a safe and effective treatment for the cancer-related condition, anthracycline extravasation5.

Numerous drugs dissolved in DMSO retain their therapeutic activity and their specific properties over a long period of time.  DMSO not only maintains but strengthens and multiplies the action of the drugs dissolved in it, thus permitting the administration of lower doses than normally required to obtain a satisfactory response.  In organ banks around the world, organs and tissues are stored and preserved in DMSO so that they are available for transplanting and grafting.  Tissues such as red blood corpuscles for transfusions and semen for artificial insemination are preserved in this manner.

As a penetrating carrier of drugs, DMSO is unsurpassed.  It easily carries necessary pharmaceuticals to any part of the body for therapeutic effect.  It passes through cellular membranes and tissues.  It is for this reason, among many others, that DMSO is properly described less as 'a drug' by those intimate with it, more as a new and little understood therapeutic principle.  As Dr Jacobs reported to an assembly of the American College of Advancement in Medicine, DMSO is more effective when used in conjunction with other medications which it can deliver throughout the body with spectacular ease.  This can occur even when DMSO is applied topically, and the other medication ingested orally or intravenously. 

For instance, DMSO will carry hydrocortisone or hexachlorophene into the deepest layers of the skin, producing a reservoir that remains for sixteen days and resists depletion by washing the skin with soap, water or alcohol.  DMSO mixed with hydrogen peroxide 9% solution has proven highly effective in the treatment of oral and genital herpes when applied topically to the affected areas.  Periodic outbreaks of the virus have been known in many cases to cease altogether with regular application.   

An interesting observation is that the application of DMSO to one affected joint or area often leads to pain relief in some other location.  DMSO has systemic effects.  It is a depressant to the central nervous system and, of course, it reaches all areas of the body when absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream.

Perhaps the effect DMSO has had on the lives of countless thousands may be summed up by the case of Ruth Lewis of Sarasota, Florida.  Ruth, aged sixty-four, was in so much pain from rheumatoid arthritis that she couldn't walk without the aid of a four-legged walking device.  Pain had been her constant companion for over twenty years.  When she recently sustained a back injury, she was told by her physicians to have at least six months total bed rest.

Realising that this could spell the end of her walking days for ever, the determined Ruth had her son and husband physically carry her into the Douglass preventative medicine clinic in Marietta, Georgia to undergo a course of treatment with DMSO.

"I had previously experienced many months of severe pain in my hips and legs, visiting specialists, diagnostic clinics, hospitalisation in traction and other procedures," said Ruth.  "When I entered the doctor's office for DMSO treatment, I was unable to put both feet on the ground.  After two-and-a-half weeks of intravenous DMSO treatment, I walked out of that office without any help whatsoever - no cane - no support at all.  

"I had not been able to close my right hand completely for over a year.  It even kept me awake at night with severe pain.  But after the IV, topical and oral DMSO treatment, I can now close my hand tightly.  The arthritis has not returned.

Dear children, adolescents, and adults, I wish there were some way that I could get this message out to every single one of you. A message that would touch your lives and have you see that happiness is not sold in little baggies or a 40 oz. glass bottle. I wish that there were some way to how you, my own generation, that we can all be happy and free without drugs. I wish I could stop you from hurting your body and make you see how much you will regret it later in life.

Most of all I wish that I could unite all of you and show you that every single one of you is beautiful and miraculous and that life would not be the same without you. Unfortunately, that is impossible, because the only way of teaching is actually not teaching at all! The only way I can get others to follow is by being a good example and sharing my story when asked. The words of even the wisest man are worth nothing if no one wants to hear them!

This is my story:
Before I ate raw food, I always wanted to be cool. I wore baggy pants with trendy names and had flashy skateboards and other toys, but for some reason I wasn't cool. The harder I tried, the less cool I was. When I started eating raw food, I hid it from my peers because I thought I would be even more un-cool. Later on,  however, I found out that in their eyes eating raw food actually made me pretty cool. In fact, I noticed that a person doesn't even have to be way different to be cool. All one needs in order to be cool is sincerity. Eating healthier made me more open. I stopped caring what people said and thought about me. I became more sincere and started speaking openly. People started noticing my sincerity and as a result I made new friends. When we are sincere, people gravitate toward us.

Are you or your children worried that by eating raw food you'll lose some friends? You might lose some friends but I promise you, you'll gain three times as many new, quality friends. If you are a raw fooder it is best if you didn't seclude yourself from the rest of the world and only hang out with raw fooders. You don't have to try to convert everybody to your "raw-legion." In fact, it would be un-cool for you to say, "Stop eating that crap; that pizza's going to kill you." If you did that, you wouldn't have any friends at all! I like what Howard F. Lyman, the author of the best-selling book Mad Cowboy says, "Don't tell people what you are doing unless they ask, and when they ask, you have thirty seconds to respond. That's about how long their attention lasts. If they want to know more they will research on their own or ask more."

Occasionally, people make fun of me for eating raw food, but they're not usually too hard-core. They never say anything like, "You're stupid." They rather make fun of me gently, like, "Have some milk; oh, I forgot you can't have that cause you're crazy." I just respond with, "Yeah, I am crazy, a crazy raw fooder that is! I only eat fruit," When they hear how I start  making fun of myself, they lose interest. In Ashland, people know me as the fruit boy, I just laugh with them. I'm not afraid to make fun of myself! Because I am healthy and happy, and I don't care what people think. It's only thoughts.

I know that I would not be the same person I am today without changing my diet. Before going on raw foods, I was failing every subject in third grade except art. I couldn't read, so naturally I couldn't write. Learning geography was out of the question; I was quite happy in Denver Colorado. History? Yeah, right. That would really come in handy. Who cares about a bunch of dead guys? I was under the impression that THEY were going to teach me without my having to do anything. I had a hard time concentrating and could not remember anything. Fact: to learn, one must have the ability to remember. My energy would bounce from so high that I would be racing through the house back and forth, to so low that I wouldn't have the energy to change the channel on the remote control.

Before I went on raw food, I had asthma. Like many other sicknesses, asthma is considered incurable. I had trouble breathing at night and could not sleep. Whenever I ran, I felt like I was suffocating. My nose was always clogged, and I was pale no matter how much time I spent outside. My health was getting worse. My favorite food were milk and cheese. (This could be the reason my asthma got so bad). I used to cut a two-inch thick slice of cheese, put it between some wonder bread, and eat it.  Sometimes I'd eat the cheese without the bread. My family would go through two gallons of milk a day. My mother bought six gallons of milk at a time so that it would last for a while. My father was capable of eating three chickens in one sitting. At the age of nine, Sergei could eat an extra-large pizza all by himself! As you can imagine, we were all overweight. The doctors discovered that Sergei had juvenile diabetes, my dad had hyper thyroid, and my mother had a bad heart condition.

Health, however, was far from being my biggest problem. I was unhappy. I tried to entertain myself with movies, restaurants, and theme parks, but pleasure could never fill my feeling empty inside. My life was slowly zipping by. Every day was just like the day before. I would often wonder where all the time went. It seemed rather fast, like
something was missing. I dreamed of adventure and doing exciting things, but it all seemed pretty hopeless. I was going to get held back in school. As soon as I went on raw food, I switched to home schooling and started learning about the things I wanted to learn about. My grades started going way up. Learning became exciting for me. I learned by following my curiosity. I found that I was full of questions. It felt like a curtain had been lifted. My brain was filled with a sharp clarity. I began to remember things so much more easily. My energy became balanced. I could sit down and study now. Reading became my favorite thing to do. I understood that I was the only one who could really teach me anything. I saw thousands of opportunities like doors in front of me and I became aware that I had to open them myself, no one could do that for me. I stopped expecting to grow up some far off day and suddenly knew what I wanted to do with my life. I realized that I already was the person I was going to be the rest of my life. My life had already begun!

Before I went on raw food I had hard time breathing, especially in spring. When my first "raw" spring came I was suddenly aware I could breath through my nose! Many of my friends had colds, runny noses, and allergies. I used to have all of those, and I had nothing! At that moment, I felt that all my suffering with food cravings was worth it. I realized that I wanted to eat raw foods for the rest of my life. After I changed my diet, I never had another asthma attack. I lost some weight and started running in the mornings with my brother. I even got to the point where I could whistle while running! Raw food has changed my life. It has made me a healthier person. When a person is healthy, it's easier to be happy. My life is definitely easier than it would have been if I had not changed my diet. I don't ever need to worry about being sick with any of the thousands of diseases, viruses, or infections. I do not need braces, glasses, or Ritalin. I don't have headaches, toothaches, earaches, colds, allergies, acne, parasites, ADD, (Attention Deficit Disorder) anorexia, or obesity. Sometimes I feel guilty that I'm not sick because I have nothing to relate with other teenagers about. My friends like to talk about their symptoms and I have nothing to say! Last week I went to the dentist. He was so surprised. He told me that I had some of the best teeth he had ever seen in a teenager.

Back when I was nine years old, my sister and I would talk to each other about the day we turned eighteen. This day would be a special day because on this day, we would stop eating raw food. We would dream about what kind of food we would break the diet with. Corndogs, pizza, nachos, and crab were just some of the foods we were going to order on that magical day. As the years went by this dream seemed less and less appetizing until one day when I forgot about thought altogether. I started noticing that food did not run my life as before. No longer did my whole existence revolve around it. Spending less time eating gave me more free time during the day. I began using this time for observing others and myself. I noticed how my mother, who worked sixteen-hour days, would have a huge pile of dishes waiting for her at the end of the day, or how my father, who some days did twelve massages in a row, would still have to wash the floor in the kitchen before he passed out. I observed how I felt when I just sat around watching TV while my parents worked and I pretended like I didn't notice. I still remember the day I made up my mind to wash the dishes for my mom and the floor for my dad. It was the first time in my life that I didn't try to get away with doing as little a possible. I turned on the radio to my favorite station, put on some gloves, and washed those dishes until I could see my reflection in them. The floors always seemed to me like a lot of hard and dirty work, but appeared to me surprisingly easy to do. The reward for me came when my parents, who were so used to washing the dishes and floor, came into the kitchen and found that everything was already done. It was like someone zapped them with a stun gun. It was such an incredible feeling that I decided to help them out more often. It was after that day that I had my first major revelation: I, Sergei Boutenko, enjoyed helping people! I felt good inside every time I helped someone, so I naturally started doing it more often. Once again, I learned how things in life are not always as they seem. When I avoided work and tried to get happiness from entertainment, I was unhappy. When I began working to help others, I was no longer as bored and became happy...

About the Authour
Steve was pronounced "Sproutman" in a 1977 Vegetarian Times Magazine feature article that explored the why's and wherefores of his 100% sprout diet. While over 2 decades time, most diets change, Steve is still a believer in living foods and one of the most prominent spokespersons for sprouting.

Our only disappointment with the book is that it lacked a standard index so necessary for quickly locating a recipe by name. Living With Green Power is an outstanding book that ought to be a companion to the Green Power/Green Life/Green Star/Solo Star juicer.

Raw Magic - an extract

There are some foods that have the power to change your life. There are certain foods that when you eat them, your body is in heaven, your cells start singing, your mind becomes ecstatic. "Yes," they cry in unison, "Yes, these are the foods that I have been waiting for. These are the foods that I have been craving, that my body has been missing my whole life." Sometimes, it is a particular nutrient you have been lacking. But more often with these foods it is their synergistic properties. They have a magical energy which comes not only from the nutritional combination they contain, but from the way they are grown, the lands they are from, their history. Many of them are sacred plants in their countries of origin.

There are many amazing foods I have omitted from this book, foods that are more commonly recognised as superfoods: vegetables like broccoli, kale and cucumbers, fruits like cranberries, blueberries and grapefruit, sprouts like lentils, sunflower or alfalfa. I was tempted to include avocadoes and olives, buckwheat and oats, all foods I eat on a daily basis. But these are foods that most of us are familiar with, and if you are not then there are plenty of books out there that do cover them. This book is about the new breed of superfoods which are unique to the West in the 21st century. Never before have we had access to such a wide variety of plant foods. Some of them we are accustomed to in different forms, like cacao; others have been around for a few decades now, like Spirulina; some are widely known in their country of origin, but novel to the UK, like goji berries; and some others are utterly brand new to us, like purple corn. When I was a child, avocadoes and kiwis were considered exotic, now they are standard fare in every shopping basket. I believe that such is the potency and vitality of the foods in this book that as people catch on to them, they are going to revolutionise the way we eat, shop and live.

These foods are transformative foods. By eating such high potency foods they change the very nature of our reality. They affect our consciousness and raise our energetic level to a degree that has profound implications on all areas of our lives. It is not possible to eat these foods on a daily basis and not feel altered. We live in a culture which is intrinsically false; fuelled on junk food, media lies, false gods and political whores, we have forgotten how to be our true selves. These foods help us realign, connect with who we really are, and tune into our higher selves. It becomes increasingly harder not to live in our power when we eat this way, and this can be a hard adjustment to make in a world where the individual is fundamentally disempowered. Revealing our inner core is usually painful, as we let the masks of self-deception slip away, we have to let go of people and life situations which have been holding us back and preventing us being fully who we are. It is a scary thing to do, to step into our truth and reclaim our birthright when we have been taught our whole lives to avoid truth at all costs, to keep up the facades and not rock the boat. But the more of us who make these choices, the easier it becomes. And the more we attract into our lives people who have made the same choices and appreciate us for who we honestly are.

Rocking the boat is what we are here to do! Isn't it exciting and exhilarating when you stand up for what you truly believe in? Our time has come, and the old ways are not working anymore. Paradigms are crumbling and new ones are rising in their place. As we understand eternal truths, we see the world for what it is, and understand how desperately things need to change. We align with our higher purpose, the divine intelligence, and see what our life's path is. What mission have we been given? What is our role here at this time? It is to wake the world up, to guide humanity through the massive shifts and changes that are taking place. And of course, that starts with ourselves. We must awaken ourselves, and we must keep the balance between being fully awake i.e. masters of our own reality, knowing that we create everything with our own energy, taking full responsibility for our lives as a manifestation of our own inner state of being; and between being of service, helping to awaken the sleeping masses, and doing everything we can to help people through these times. And you know what the best part is? It's fun. Believe it or not, the universe actually wants us to be happy, it doesn't want us to suffer. And the more we work with the universe, the happier we become, the less we suffer.

Admittedly, facial exercise is a controversial topic. I found that, while long-term practitioners rave about the benefits, most dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons are against the program. Well, that's understandable, I thought. It's called a conflict of interest. Doctors are also not in favor of my 100% raw foods lifestyle. Since most of what I do to stay in great health goes against a doctor's advice, I decided that was probably a plus for the exercises. What intrigued me was that people who practice facial exercises generally look better than others of the same age. Many of them do not even follow healthy lifestyles - at least, not to the degree that I, and others like me, do. Everyone agrees that we all need to exercise for health and improved self-image. But our ideal picture does not include droopy eyes, eye bags, double chins, no lips, and a jawline that looks like that of a melting cartoon character. You probably work out. Yes, we want ripped abs, a slim waist, and well-toned thighs. But what about the part of us that we look at most closely every day? Your facial muscles, as much as or even more than body muscles, can sag, bag, droop, and go all-over wrinkly. While many are concerned with their facial complexion, we don't talk much about exercising the face. Not enough, at least. Facial exercises don't receive as much publicity as those which emphasize other areas, but they are just as beneficial.

Cosmetic surgery often requires cheek implants to plump up the face. Why? Because facelifts drag the face backward. While this eliminates sags, it pulls away the fullness of youth. Occasionally, cosmetic surgeons suggest the addition of exercises after a surgery, but generally, they ignore the benefits because exercise doesn't cost thousands of dollars. Surprised? You shouldn't be! A young person s epidermis continuously develops to accommodate new growth in both musculature and skeletal structure. The challenge is to make our mature skin respond like young skin. The raw foods diet is our only chance. On raw foods, our system works as efficiently as a much younger person's. If you have any doubts about using facial exercises, look around at your yoga, Pilates, or gym class.

The phenomenon I explored in my first book, Your Right to Be Beautiful, is getting more pronounced than ever. People with thirty-year-old bodies have faces that look decades older. You've seen bodies reshaped by exercises, haven't you? In the same way, you can actually reshape your face. Exercising your facial muscles is not nearly as pretty as yoga or Pilates. I think that's one reason I postponed even trying them. But I know for a fact now that they will definitely beautify your face just as other exercises improve yoyour physique - but facial exercises work much faster and more dramatically. Imagine a rubber band that is permanently stretched. Then you'll have a good image of the way muscles have weakened, lengthened, and drooped in your face. As muscles weaken, they make the whole face sag. So what's the good news? These flabby muscles can be shortened by facial exercises that ultimately lift and firm your face.

Exercises shorten loose, slack muscles, making them firm and taut, and helping to diminish the fat around those muscles. Your facial muscles are the only muscles in your body that insert (or attach) to skin at one end rather than being attached to bone at both ends. Toning your facial muscles will directly affect the appearance of your skin. Through facial resistance training, you can build muscle, stretching the epidermis and reducing wrinkles. Facial exercises also strengthen and tighten the understructure of your face and neck. Droopiness, flabbiness, furrows... you can say goodbye to all of them.


Before doing the Rawsome Flex exercises, I could not even stand to look at myself in the mirror. I am not exaggerating. Even though my skin looked pretty good, having been a raw eater for over 7 years, I was dismayed by my sagging jowls and drooping eyebrows. I was beginning to look my age - and I hated it! But after about 4 weeks of doing the exercises daily, I noticed that every time I would meet someone I hadn't seen in a month or more, they would remark, 'WOW, you look so GREAT!' or 'What have you been doing? You look fantastic!' I had not received such a flood of compliments since going raw 7 years ago. I am too busy in the AM to do the exercises, so I decided to do 40 minutes at night along with my yoga and trampoline routine. I just watch my Netflix shows and the time goes fast. This way I don't feel guilty about watching TV because I am multi-tasking. (I have gone through all seasons of Desperate Housewives and am now on Brothers & Sisters--I love it without the commercials!) I also do the exercises during a movie if the person next to me doesn't mind. With the "chin push ups" and "upper jaw builder" exercises, which use spoons as weight lifting props, I soon graduated from a very heavy tablespoon to 2 of them. But today I had to go out to Home Depot and get some serious weights (crown bolts for a dollar or two) because the 2 heavy spoons are too easy. I have been doing these exercises for 6 months and I swear they have wiped about 5 years off my face!
