Resveratrol's blood thinning and anti-inflammatory properties may prevent blood clotting and increase blood flow, both of which may decrease or even prevent heart attacks and strokes. One way to improve athletic endurance is through exercise. According to Johan Auwerx, from the Institute of Genetics, Molecular and Cell Biology in Illkirch, France, "Resveratrol boosts muscle endurance by increasing the energy-producing components within muscle cells". Auwerx says that "high-doses of trans-resveratrol are needed to trigger the pathway that gives cells more mitochondria. He goes on to say that, "at very low doses you don't activate the cell machinery to burn energy," thereby discounting the belief that, "one glass of wine might improve athletic prowess". The effects of resveratrol are so pronounced that endurance athletes may one day take it as a performance enhancer.

Trans-resveratrol in sufficient dosage improves athletic performance and benefits everyone by making any physical activity much easier. For example, individuals who have difficulty walking up flights of stairs are able to do so with much less effort when they take resveratrol.

Flower essences are liquid, potentized plant preparations which convey a distinct imprint, or etheric pattern of a specific flower.  These remarkable remedies expand our understanding of health care, recognizing a relationship between body, and soul, and the interweaving of spiritual, mental, emotional, and  physical aspects of wellness.  Flower essences enjoy a reputation  of being not only highly effective, but also very safe to use.  They are not part of standard biochemical medicine for they contain only minute traces of physical substance.  Rather they belong to a pioneering new field of potentialized remedies which derive their beneficial powers from the inherent life forces within substances.

The effect of the essences is similar to that in meditation in that the patient accesses the wisdom of their Higher Self and it directs their own healing.  Their system is "flooded" with the positive virtues needed from the Higher Self and a "washing out" of the negativity which caused their disease occurs and balance is restored.

Flower essences were first originated by English doctor Edward Bach, M.B. B.S., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., D.P.H., in 1930.  He found, perfected and put into use a system of medicine as simple as it has proved effective.  Dr. Bach taught that the basis of disease was to be found in disharmony between the spiritual and mental aspects of a human being.  This disharmony, to be found wherever conflicting moods produced unhappiness, mental torture, fear, or lassitude and resignation, lowered the body's vitality and allowed disease to be present.  For this reason the remedies he prepared were for the treatment of the mood and temperament of the patient, not for the physical illness; so that each patient becoming more himself could increase his or her own vitality and so draw from an inward strength and an inward peace the means to restore health.

Bach wrote in his book "The Twelve Healers and Other Remedies": "In treating cases with these remedies, no notice is taken of the nature of disease.  The individual is treated and as he becomes well the disease goes, having been cast off by the increase in health.  All know that the same disease may have different effects on different people; it is the effects that need treatment, because they guides to the real cause.  The mind being the most delicate and sensitive part of the body shows the onset and the course of disease much more definitely than the body, so that the outlook of mind is chosen as the guide as to which remedy or remedies are necessary."

Dr Bach stressed that his remedies could be used in conjunction with any other form of treatment, and would not clash or interfere.  Equally they could achieve great results used alone.

How To Use Flower Essences

Frequency of Use
The essences are most commonly taken orally from a glass dropper bottle, by putting four drops under the tongue several times per day.  Regular, rhythmic use of the flower remedies builds the strength of their catalytic action.  Therefore,  potency is increased not by taking more drops at one time, but by using them on a frequent,  consistent basis.  In most cases,  the essences should be taken four times daily,  although this may need to be increased in emergency or acute situations to once every hour,  or even more often.  On the other hand, children or other highly sensitive persons may need to decrease the frequency of use to once or twice daily.

Administering The Essences
Each time and every time the remedies are used their effects can be strengthened by using an appropriate affirmation at the same time.

Topical Application Of The Essences
Flower essences are of great benefit when absorbed directly through the skin,  in addition to the standard oral dosage.  Essences can be added to bath-water, or to creams, lotions, and oils.

Dr. Carrel's work showed that a clean internal environment is the logical solution to extending our lifeline. Apply the mixture to your face or any other area and let it dry for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Wash and feel fantastic!

Specifications

The Bali Yoga Swings are made from the highest quality nylon fabric available. It is the same parachute fabric used by airborne skydivers. The material is comfortable enough against the skin and breathes avoiding any sweaty feeling. The nylon fabric won’t mildew, is washer friendly and will last for 5 to 10 years with normal use.

Handles
These are made from black durable sponge foam like bicycle handle bar foam and give a non-slip, comfortable grip.

Adjusters
These slide up or down and can be cinched around the feet to keep them locked around them during movement.

Hooks
The 5mm Stainless Steel Hooks are super strong and will never rust.

Adjustable height
The system is simple and quick to adjust from one level to another. The Swing can be used by itself or the handles can be used with the Swing or the Swing can be removed and the handles used by themselves also. The 6mm nylon rope is 120cm long (2 included) has four levels of adjustment and can be custom finetuned by yourself by moving the knots up or down.

Installation

Your swing is relatively simple to install. You will need:

    * Tape measure
    * Additional strong ceiling rope
    * A ladder or chair

You may need ceiling hooks if no beam or place to tie a rope exists. (An 8mm thick or 1/4″thick steel hook of 8cm or 3″long wood screw tip). Hooks are available at local hardware store.

The rope included with your swing is for part of the adjustment system. You will need approx 5-6 metres of additional strong rope to mount around your home beam.

Firstly, select a safe spot where there is at least 60cm (2 feet) of space in all directions. This is the minimal amount (one metre or more space is ideal).

The beam must be sturdy and not termite infested. Test the strength of the beam if necessary by putting two people in the swing.

Outside on the balcony or verandah are ideal locations for the Yoga Swing. Places where others can enjoy it too are also good, in the living room or even in the bedroom if you purchased the Sex Swing.

Place a rag over the beam where the rope drops over and down to the floor. Over time the rope could become worn causing failure without this cloth.

1. Tie a strong knot in the rope when the looped end becomes level and measures 260cm or 8 feet from the floor to rope loop.

2. Wrap knotted adjustment rope around loop as shown.

3. There are 4 adjustable positions you may clip the Swing handles. The handles are best on the top knot where the lowest handle becomes a foot stirrup for sky walking and skier exercises. You may enjoy experimenting yourself.

4. As for the Swing, the ideal heights are the middle and other 2 lower knotted positions. The lowest position is good for floor work, for example stretching the lumbar area or doing inverted shoulder stands.

5. The Swing saddle hanging free should be about hip level. When inverting your head should be free of the floor. Adjust knots either up or down to the correct height. Try one test inversion to see that there is at least 10cm space between your head and floor.

What a wonderful book! For the past 20 years I've been on a quest to eat more natural foods,and my health improved drastically. But I still suffered from junk food cravings...until I discovered Green for Life!

Following Victoria's advice, I added lots of GREENS to my fruit smoothies, and the first day I did so MY FOOD CRAVINGS STOPPED. Bang. Just vanished. Just like my brain's "cravings switch" was flipped to the OFF position. Apparently my body had been craving minerals all those years, and once I started eating GREENS the cravings stopped. And I'm finally trimming down! Victoria's research in this area is much needed, and much appreciated. I especially love the chapter on the chimpanzees and their daily eating habits.

My wife and I participated in one of Victoria's Green for Life teleconferences, and we loved it. She speaks from her heart, is really a nice lady, and this was one of the best conferences ever. The way to healthy living by M. Caruso
I used to do a lot of juicing in the past but it is very time consuming and really messy. My problem is over since I got Green for Life. Making smoothies is a great alternative to juicing. It is much faster, less messy, and you also get some fiber in addition to juice. In addition to great recipes for making smoothies the book is also a good source of information about proper nutrition, the importance of hydrochloric acid in the stomach and much more. Get this book!! Another great volume that you may not miss is Can We Live 150. These two books together make a perfect gift of showing the way to healthy living just for anyone.

Attention all IBS sufferers by S. Elaine
I was diagnosed with IBS almost a year ago, and tried my best to control it through diet (check out Heather VonVorous' Eating for IBS), but I would still have flare-ups, especially during stressful times. The green smooties are not only easy to digest (b/c its all blended for you) but they do wonders to regulate your GI tract. I have not had a flare- up since I started drinking my smoothies. If you have IBS, acid reflux, heartburn, or any other digestive issues you owe it to yourself to read this book.

Great introduction to blending, but should be taken with a grain of salt by BBP
I bought this book based on the large number of positive reviews and read it with an open mind, but also some skepticism. I wanted to boost my energy level as well as cut down on meat consumption, but was wary of fad diets and radical lifestyle changes. I was already exercising regularly (3-4x a week), so weight loss wasn't a concern. I was just tired of feeling lethargic all the time and wanted to try a new way to stop being so lifeless.

Thankfully, Boutenko promotes healthy living, not gimmicky diets or fad lifestyles. I gave the book an earnest effort, and within 2 weeks of regular and frequent blending (4 or more smoothies a day), I began to notice a big change in the way my body reacted. I was surprised to see myself growing very sleepy around 11pm and was wide awake by 7, all without a need for an alarm clock. My body became more in tune with the circadian rhythm and day/night cycles whereas previously, I stayed up half the night and didn't wake until past noon. As many others have reported, my craving for meat and junk food sharply declined. After drinking 2 or 3 glasses of smoothies/veggie juice blends in the evening, I didn't have much interest (or room) for much else.

My initial 5 or 6 pitchers were sometimes downright disgusting, but after I got used to the juice blends and varying the ingredients (adding some fruits or store-bought orange juice), I came to like them a lot and looked forward to a tall cold glass of green goo whenever I felt hungry. Particularly effective energy-boosters are dark leafy greens like kale and Chinese mustard greens (Brassica rapa).

Prior to reading "Green for Life", I was juicing. I always felt guilty throwing away all that vegetable and fruit pulp and just drinking the juice, and Boutenko made me realize why. I was discarding all the good stuff, like valuable nutrients, enzymes, and fiber. I had tried to use the pulp in soup, but it didn't taste very good. Juicing also left a big mess to clean up (mesh screen, pulp bucket, juicer walls), and I hadn't even thought to blend. So, now I blend, and keep 100% of the benefits and all the cleaning that's required is rinsing out the pitcher of my blender. Another bonus is that vegetables and fruit are a lot cheaper than meat, so the savings add up. $5 can buy a week's worth of juicing ingredients. In the supermarket, I began to walk right by the meat section without second thoughts, even when there were some great sales. Lower meat consumption is also better for the planet because of how wasteful meat production is.

"Green for Life" is a good starting point to a greener, healthier lifestyle, and I highly recommend it. I do have to take some of what Boutenko says with a grain of salt though. She seems to claim blending as a panacea which solves almost any ailment or condition. Otherwise, I have no doubts as to the health benefits of regular blending. I fell off the wagon for the last 3 months because of work and definitely feel the difference. I'm very tired again during the day, so I've restarted my blending routine. Getting more vegetables into your diet and eating less meat is never a bad thing.

A very important book and a very important mission

As the author of the book "The Doctor Who Cures Cancer," I believe "Radical Remissions is a big step forward towards creating critical mass. Turner points out in her book that not one doctor she asked who had personally witnessed a Radical Remission had tried to publish the case as a classic case study. She also points out that there are over 1,000 reports of "spontaneous remissions" that have been reported in the medical literature, but that they weren't being pursued by researchers as to the commonalities among them. Turner has done that!

She asked the right questions, "Why did each of these people experience a spontaneous remission? What it spontaneous or was it something they did?" She found out that their remissions were due to something they did.

Turner also highlights how it is by focusing on the anomalies that new discoveries are made. Whether it be Dr. Revici's discoveries, the discovery of penicillin, etc, it is almost always in the exceptional case where the discovery is made. The book then goes forth to expand on the 9 biggest commonalities that she uncovered so that cancer patients can try them for themselves.

Turner continues to collect more cases to help verify her findings. In her book, she calls her findings a hypothesis. She wants to see more attention devoted to her data to confirm and expand her findings. We can be sure that the cancer industry will close ranks and not follow through on Turner's goal just as they have for the past 100 years. But the book and her continued mission is a GIGANTIC step towards greater awareness about the real ways to cure cancer.

"I was so inspired after watching this movie I pulled my juicer out of the closet and I'm heading to Whole Foods today to pick up some good veggies and fruits. OK, I'm not overweight by hundreds of pounds or much less even fifty but I constantly battle with my weight going up and down 20-30 pounds. When I lose the weight I always feel so great but inevitably real life sets in and I find myself reaching for the wrong foods. Just to watch the weight loss of these two guys, Joe who made the documentary and Phil whom Joe met on his path across America during his 60 day juice fast, and seeing their life transform was amazing. Of course I realize that a juice fast may take the weight off and then after the fact I am left with the daily choices again but I really need to make a change for good this time because when the weight creeps up so does my blood pressure and I do not want to end up on medication.

So I am trying the 10 day fast and at the same time I am going to overhaul just how I eat in general. I already know I can lose weight with lowering my carb intake so I am going to combine that with working some raw foods into my daily living after I do the fast. I will report back in about two weeks.

UPDATE! This is one week after I started and as Joe says in the movie: "Hang on to your pineapples", LOL! I lost 9 pounds so far! Woohoo! First I want to point out that I know to be cautious of rapid weight loss. I also want to point out that I found the Reboot site after going to the movie's website and they give you instructions on how to do the diet. They have different diets and after you answer a few short questions it tells you which program may be best for you. I opted for the entry which is not juice only but you also eat raw veggies and fruit and they have recipes. There are other programs where you alternate juicing alone with juicing and raw veggies/fruit. You can join the community and there is a nutritionist and other members who answer your questions or just post progress, suggestions, or questions. (And no it does not cost to join :)" By S. Young

"Joe Cross, our hero in "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead", an inspiring documentary, is both overweight and has a serious medical problem to boot --- an auto-immune disease that requires 15 milligrams a day of Prednisone. That dosage guarantees long-term adverse side effects.

I gotta tell you, this is story-telling at its finest. Life sometimes emulates great screenwriting. Joe Cross immediately flies back to his home away from home, and supports Phil in doing just a 10-day juice fast which quickly leads to a complete lifestyle change for Phil Riverstone. He loses a massive amount of weight, starts excercising, stops driving trucks, and leads groups at his local health-food store in incorporating juice fasts into their lives --- kinda like the good twin of The Who's "Tommy".

"I was fortunate enough to be at the premiere screening at the Sonoma Film Festival this year.
The film is about Joe Cross, a businessman from Australia who's health was absolutely in shambles. He had a rare autoimmune disease and was in regular pain and had to take multiple medications to counteract the symptoms. He finally decided enough time was already wasted on treating symptoms and he wanted to treat the cause. He decided to take a 60 day tour of the US (30 in NYC and 30 spread throughout the rest of the country) to reboot his body and immune system with nothing but raw vegetables in juice form.

REBOOT with Joe Cross!

EXCELLENT! Kudos to Joe Cross! This DVD is the sequel to his first "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" DVD. Essentially, it is six years later and Joe is back on the road interviewing and chatting with people all over the world. Of course he doesn't tell us anything we don't already know... vegetables and fruit are good for you... processed food is not.

This particular DVD is different from the first in that he speaks to more families and the emphasis is on support from family members and the community you surround yourself with. It also focuses on how important it is for children to develop good eating habits. Exposing them to juicing and being a part of preparing the family meal.

Joe is not unrealistic and even admits that his weight fluctuates due to stress and being on the road and how he reboots to get himself back on track. He also has a section where Phil is back. Phil was in the first DVD and lost an immense amount of weight. I won't tell you where he is right now in his life... no spoilers alert... watch the DVD!

You are certainly not going to "learn" anything from this DVD that you don't already know but you will be motivated to do something about your own health and perhaps your family's as well. I like to occasionally pop one of his DVD's into the TV and just play it as i do my things around the house. In the background, I hear the dialogue and it reminds me to get on track and be responsible for myself.

This DVD also incorporates some kitchy tunes and cartoons professing the benefits of a pant based diet. It's like Joe's answer to all the fast food commercials we are constantly being bombarded with everyday in all forms of media, TV, radio, magazines and newspapers.

I also have his book, The Reboot with Joe Cross Diet. It's ok... but you don't need a cookbook to tell you what vegetables to throw into the juicer! If I had to rate his products i would say the first DVD is his best followed by this second DVD and the book is a far away third. If you have young children though.. this second DVD would be better because of the presence of so many children in their families.

The essential message is to just do it and if you lose focus, reboot!

Good but not as focused as the First one by Red
I was really excited to watch this since I LOVED the first one and I am a big Joe Cross fan. First off, nobody makes health documentaries like Joe. I have watched MANY of these documentaries on Gaim TV and the production value, information and entertainment value of Joe's movies is the best. I am also a juicer and I did a reboot for 45 days this year and I am a member of the online reboot community. Having said that I felt like this video just did not have the same emotional punch that the first one did and it did not make me want to jump off the couch, grab an green juice and go running like I did when I saw the first one. (However there is a "surprise" about half way in the movie that broke my heart and made tears come to my eyes.) I think the main difference in this movie and the first is that the focus is broader and it is more about what happens after the diet or reboot. This really is a follow-up movie literally in that the movie shows us what Joe and others have been doing in the five years since the first movie. Joe is very honest in this movie and at one point even shows a graph of his weight starting at his heaviest and going to the present and he talks about the fact that he is twenty pounds heavier that he was post reboot and that his weight has fluctuated and even gone higher based on certain things that were happening in his life. He even admits that now he does about 40% fruits and veges, 30% animal products and 30% processed food. He is still off medicine and looks, and claims to feel, very healthy. I was not thrilled to hear his ratios but as he pointed out most people are 5% fruit and veges and the remaining 95% is animal products and processed so he way ahead of the majority. He also has spent the majority of the time in between the movies living on the road traveling promoting his Reboot company so the fact he has been able to maintain his weight at a healthy level is to be admired and taken notice of.

In fact the last part of the movie talks about why Joe has been able to live a hectic life and maintain the majority of his weight loss and continue to eat a much healthier diet than the standard person while others who have rebooted and tried to lose weight have "failed" and stopped eating healthier and gained all or even more of the weight back. Some people might not like this section because it "plugs" his Reboot web site and online community but I do not have a problem with that especially since the site is free. (In fact now that I think about it this movie is pretty plug free since he does sponsor a line of juicers which are never mentioned and he also has a line of juices - or did - that he does not mention either and other than showing him at book signings it does not even mention his recipe books.) As the movie powerfully makes clear with the "surprise" guest, many of us eat for many reasons other than the fact that we are hungry. One of the biggest reasons for emotional eating is and not feeling connected to a person or a community. For many people the only true support they get when changing their lifestyle is from others who are doing the same which is why the internet can be almost as big of a factor in our success as the food itself so showing the reboot community is actually a good thing. Also, I think the movie could have been more powerful if it focused more on why we make choices we no are bad and turn away from things we know from past experience will make us feel better and talked more about how to deal with that.

I also think people who are looking for an action plan might be disappointed that other than saying eat more fruits and vegetables and exercise more the movie does not really give any guidelines. In fact he really only spends about five minutes going over rebooting but he does use one of his great cartoons to illustrate who a reboot can get you back on track. He does surprisingly spend much more focusing on getting children to eat healthier and demonstrates that if you can get the children on board it is easier to get the parents eating healthier too instead of going about it the other way. Spread through out all of this is submitted videos by people who juicing has had positive changes on talking about a whole range of topics about their journey. Instead of trying to really push a diet agenda here the general idea here appears to be that what we should be doing and we need to try to move toward increasing our fruits and vegetables and making better choices for us and our family. Is that a middle of the road idea? Yes, it is but slow and steady in the middle of the road is often the way to get somewhere when the journey is so important but feels so far.

A personal breakthrough! by Carl A. Dixon
I have lived with chronic pain for the last three years. I am old (58:) and very active physically. I have suffered pain that would normally be associated with having severe lower disk problems or maybe a pinched nerve - plus my low back muscles have been very painful. I work out carfully every day. I have had 4 MRI's in the last year plus a bone scane. I have seen a Neuro Surgeon, chiropracter(s), Orthopedic surgeon, family doctor, spinal surgeon and two physio thearapists. All of them have been helpful in some ways but no one can really help me or tell me what my problem is. My disks are fine and I have no pinched nerves. I purchased this book along with Framework. I read 3 Minutes 1st and started the exercises. I am completely pain free! I still find it hard to believe. It is over three weeks and I awake every morning wondering if my pain is back. I do the exercise for atheletes and have added a lower back exercise plus one for elbows. The total time is 4 1/2 minutes. I should mention I always warm up on my bike 1st so my muscles are able to accept any stretching. Plus the reading of FrameWork has helped in my weight workout. I have already recommended this to a friend and he is having similar results. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star report is that I believe he should have said more about warming up 1st and the book would be as good as FrameWork if he had added to the content to help those of us who are very athletically fit. But it is a great book and you will not regret purchasing it.

This book made me a believer by Madeline Weinstein
Seven months ago I experienced a very painful episode with my left knee. I was not aware of any causative event, but suddenly I could barely walk. I tried every treatment and product imaginable. I had an MRI, consulted two orthopedic surgeons, and briefly considered surgery as my only option. This was after spending hendreds of dollars on products (knee braces, heat and cold wraps, herbs, ointments, etc.), and trying acupuncture, physical therapy, massage, and a host of other therapies. I was unable to exercise, gained weight, and began scanning Modern Maturity magazine for walking aids! Then, my daughters gave me a copy of the book, "3 Minutes to a Pain-Free Life", and I started to do the six therapeutic movements outlined in the book. I've been doing them daily now for a month and I have regained considerable mobility. I was able to start an exercise program and I'm amazed that I can now walk and exercise without pain. I even had my back go out on me, and I immediately did the specific stretches the book recommended. By the second day I was able to stand tall and move without debilitating pain. Another bonus of the book is that it is a highly readable layman's text of Anatomy and Physiology. I learned a lot about my body in the process of healing it. I plan to buy this book for everyone I know who struggles with chronic pain.

Good advice despite the over-hyped title. by Caponsacchi
Hardly a "revolutionary" program for those who have read anything about the muscular-skeletal structure of the human body, the interrelations of muscles and joints, and the importance of keeping the muscles stretched. But the author does offer an inviting, simple, and feasible set of six exercises which, if done religiously every day, 30 seconds per exercise, can prevent further abuses and damage (the title's apparent promise of restoration or a "cure" seems a bit exaggerated). Compared to the impossibly long list of tedious, often painful and exhausting exercises given me by my PT, Dr. Weisberg's program is cause for a sigh of relief.

Well over half of the book is devoted to anatomical discussions, motivational talk, and testimonials rather than the program itself. The heart of Dr. Weisberg's advice is the familiar "use it or lose it." The author practically demonizes the chair and the unnatural "C" shape that it encourages. The idea is to align the body to its natural center of gravity, producing the "S" curve. Anyone who finds it excruciating if not impossible to assume the squat position (maintaining balance on the heels is the challenge) or the split (only in my dreams) may be frustrated by the book's program of exercises. Still, anyone should benefit from these 6 exercises, even if some are not implemented to perfection (I'm structurally incapable of bending over and touching my toes--unless permitted to bend my knees).

So far, so good by Daisy
My problem: hip bursitis and piriformis syndrome. I'm three days into the stretches that this book recommends. Already I've received more pain relief than I ever got from anything I tried before, including physical therapy, acupuncture and a cortisone injection. I'm very hopeful that I will soon be pain-free.

Update: five months later, my piriformis syndrome is very much under control. I'm back to working out on a stair-climber, back to long walks with the dog, back to being able to sleep w/o pain killers. I still get twinges of pain, and must continue the stretches, but I'm so much better.

Achieving Great Health in 90 Days or less is one of the most inspiring live food and health book primers that I have seen. Bob McCauley distinctly understands the mystery of creating optimal vibrant health. He shares it through the medium of his own experience, which is the real foundation of healing.

He has isolated the fundamentals of health: becoming alkaline, raw foods, the use of super foods Spirulina and Chlorella, adequate hydration and ionized water, probiotics, exercise, and a positive mental attitude.

The power of healing is about the broad strokes, rather than the details or obsessing about health. This book is excellent for those making the transition into live foods. It helps people wake up into the practical reality of living a live food lifestyle. His discussion of live foods and the use of chlorella and Spirulina is one of the best I have seen. I personally also use the E3Live in addition to the other algae. The E3Live has the much needed long chain omega 3 DHA and EPA which is not available in the vegetarian world except for golden algae for DHA and purslane for EPA. It also stimulates stem cell production, and has an intensity of neurotransmitter precursors, which makes it particularly powerful for enhancing brain function.

I appreciate this book so much because he has summed up how to create high level wellness in one sentence and then simply, but eloquently takes the rest of the book to explain this one message. As he unfolds his message, we are treated to a delightful sharing of practical tips and insightful quotes that he has gathered over the years. He has simplified his approach into six components, which naturally detoxify and alkalize the body.

If you are sick it is because you allow yourself to remain sick. By that I mean that the human body is capable of curing itself of any disease. Unless you are terminally ill, the average person can Achieve Great Health in 90 days or less. In most cases, even those diagnosed as “terminally ill” can turn their health around in several months if they are determined to live at any cost.

We get sick and prematurely age ourselves by turning our bodies acidic. We turn ourselves acid by living on a primarily cooked-food diet, not properly hydrating our body, consuming substances such as processed foods that barely resemble anything nutritious, while at the same time doing almost nothing to alkalize ourselves. When we become acidic we are wide open to disease of any and all kinds. If we are sick, our bodies are acidic. If we are seriously ill, our body pH is dramatically lower than it ought to be. This is a dangerous, sometimes life-threatening situation that cannot be ignored. But it can easily be remedied if we become resolute about changing our health.

The protocol for permanently ridding the body of disease and living in true health is quite simple. We should only consume Spirulina and Chlorella , Raw Foods , Ionized Water and probiotics. We must also exercise regularly and maintain a positive mental attitude . Health is as simple as that. The following pages describe exactly how we can Achieve Great Health in only a few months time. I have not by any means attempted to answer every question about health in this book, nor cover every conceivable health topic. The details are provided merely to support the arguments I pose in this book. How many of us would drive if we had to learn to dissemble and repair a car? When I wrote my first book, Confessions of a Body Builder, Rejuvenating the Body with Spirulina, Chlorella, Raw Foods and Ionized Water (COABB), I was aware that I had not said everything about health I wanted or needed to. But I knew I had laid the foundation for the true road to Great Health. What I want to accomplish with this book is a further exploration of exactly what we need to do to Achieve Great Health, Perfect Health. The premise of writing this book was that I wanted nothing more than to seek the truth about how to be healthy; the following pages describe what I found.

Profound lifestyle changes are not easily implemented and that is what's required. Most of us are fundamentally resistant to change even though it is change that keeps us vital and invigorated, more than we ever realize.

I wrote this book for everyone, especially the average person who lives on a meat and potato, junk-food, fast-food, processed-food diet or perhaps likes to barbecue on the weekends. Many of us don't realize that the world of true health even exists, that it actually is a place you can take your life to if you chose. True health is found in the raw , not cooked world of food, and it is one seldom visited by most people.

As for the health conscious community at large, this book will make perfect sense to most of them because their minds are already open to new possibilities. Everyday when we wake, we do one of two things: improve our health or encourage disease. The choice is always our own.

Many questions have arisen about my health protocol since writing COABB and I have tried to answer them in this book. One of the most common questions has been: If I go with this protocol, how long will it take till I am healthy? The answer is 90 days or less, depending on how badly you want to be healthy. This can be achieved regardless of how sick you may be at the moment, short of being rived with some disease that has placed you at death's door. If you do not properly hydrate, detoxify and alkalize your body, you will never be healthy. It is simply impossible. Only algae, raw foods and Ionized Water can achieve this quickly, especially if you are an adult with a lifetime of accumulated toxic waste in your body that has completely acidified it.

What I mean by Great Health is robust health, the kind of health that only a few of us will ever experience. Simply moving to a Raw-food Diet will allow your body to remain healthy. But without the incredible rejuvenating, body-building nutrients of Spirulina and Chlorella, along with consuming Ionized Water and Probiotics , exercising daily and developing a Positive Mental Attitude, Great Heath is not possible.

This book is the culmination of my knowledge and experience with human health and how to get there. I am not a formally trained medical, health or nutritional professional in any way. What I know of health is what I have read, experienced and spoken with others about. I offer in these pages no medical advice, but rather guidance and ruminations about health. I know almost nothing about medicine because medicine does not lead to health. This book is essentially one person's opinion, that of my own. However, I challenge anyone to find flaw with the basic tenets of my health philosophy, which is that water and raw foods rule .


My Journey to Perfect Health

I got my first warning sign that I was heading for physical ruin in 1992 after a stressful move from New Jersey to Michigan . I became quite ill over a 12 hour period and had to be taken to the hospital. It was likely a kidney or gall stone, but they never determined exactly what it was. It happened again one year later. I was on the road to the demise of my health. I was a lacto-vegetarian; I consumed dairy products , but no meat at all. I understand now that I was destroying my body with a cooked-food diet that was not providing me with any rejuvenating nutrients and was slowly acidifying every inch of me. I was dying prematurely as does everyone who lives on a cooked-food diet.

Most people don't make it to 50 before they're on some kind of medication, which is the first white flag they throw up as they surrender themselves, piece by piece, to disease, premature aging and unnatural death. Once you submit yourself to medicine, medical procedures, surgery and allopathic doctors, you are giving up and allowing yourself to become a health lemming. Your friends and family have diseases just like yours; thus you assume that disease is an inevitable part of life. Everyone else eats cooked foods, goes to a doctor and gets pills, so if you don't something must be wrong with you.

The truth I have discovered over the last eight years is that when you flow with nature and do the things that nature demands of all living things, disease does not exist and the idea of living a “long life” of only 90 years will disappear. Science tells us that the human body is built to live at least 120 – 150 years, yet it is rare for anyone to reach that age. If we can indeed rejuvenate ourselves at a cellular level, meaning that our cells are constantly provided with sufficient water and nutrients, the body itself can theoretically live indefinitely. There are many intriguing notions and possibilities in considering this principle. I will leave it to you to speculate on what those possibilities could mean for you, but the conventional notion of a lifespan will seem silly to you by the time you've finished reading this book.

I am in my forties and have the body I had in my twenties. I can run like I did when I was in high school. I have gotten stronger and more limber since moving to this health protocol . I have more stamina and endurance than anyone I know who is my age or older. I look like a person ought to look for my age, i.e. youthful, not what we are accustomed to seeing in people my age. All these things are quite special, but I am not special. Anyone can do what I am doing. Anyone can take their life to the next level and beyond. Anyone can stop putting walls in their path if they chose to.

Changing your life in a fundamental way begins with self respect. If you have that, you have the intelligence and integrity to realize that our many appetites put us in a painful, early grave and we only cheat ourselves out of God 's most precious gift, our health and therefore our lives.

The cure for all disease is found at your local supermarket in the produce section. The cure for any disease will never be found in a laboratory and that is hard to accept because science has always dazzled us; and for many has become the answer to all our problems. Three things must be accomplished if we expect to cure ourselves of any disease. We must hydrate, alkalize and detoxify the body. It is the recurrent theme of this book because it is the recurrent theme of health. This book will tell you exactly how to accomplish this so that regardless of what disease you may have, you can rid it from your body.

Attaining my current level of health has been difficult, although I can hardly begin to describe to you how wonderful I feel each day. I have come far, but my journey to perfect health continues because there are always areas of our lives we can improve on. If you have not heard of the raw food lifestyle, then come with me and discover the incredible world of fresh foods and raw dishes that will at first seem alien to you, but will one day become your close friends. Open your heart and hear the message of perfect health that nature offers us. You will not be disappointed with the results.

Perfect health is the point when the body is totally regenerating itself every moment, when biological aging has stopped completely and each organ of the body is functioning to its capacity. Few of us ever truly achieve this. I am not there yet and still have far to go. But considering where I was and how I felt then compared to how I feel now, this sure feels like perfect health. You need to hydrate your body because there is nothing more important regarding human health than a properly hydrated body, which translates into sufficiently hydrated cells throughout the body. If the body's cells are not healthy, we cannot be healthy. Cellular health equals human health.

Ionized Water has four qualities that are perfect for the body's health: Antioxidant , Alkalinity, Hydration and Detoxification. Start slowly and increase the potency of the Ionized Water you consume until you are drinking 1.5 – 2 gallons per day. Drink it all day except around mealtime. An extra trip or two to the bathroom is an extraordinarily cheap price to pay for your most precious possession: your health. You are the only person who can consume enough water to start on the road back to the health you were born with, that which God intended you to have, not the body you have transformed it into from a lifetime of eating primarily dead foods that are acidic, dehydrating and void of any rejuvenating properties.

Hydration is the first step toward reversing chronic illnesses and strengthening the immune system . It is our first defense against disease and the very keystone of human health.

There is a certain calm and stillness that only water offers. It is impossible to sit by tranquil waters and not feel at peace. Herman Melville mused that “ Meditation and water are wedded for ever.” He could not have been more right. We came from the sea.

Spirulina and Chlorella Summary

The most powerful foods on earth are Spirulina Pacifica and Chlorella Pyrenoidosa. They compliment one another in many ways because they are completely different foods with different nutrients. Spirulina is an extremely pure food, 95% digestible, extremely high in the Vitamin B-complex, iron, calcium and essential fatty acids such as Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), which is excellent for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis or bursitis. Spirulina is an excellent food to consume before a workout because of the explosive energy it provides to the body.

Chlorella has incredible anti-cancer properties. Its unique fiber is great for the digestion, as well as heavy metal and synthetic toxin removal. It has large amounts of nucleic acids (RNA/DNA ), which, along with amino acids (protein), are the building blocks of our cells. Chlorella can even be used topically on cuts, scrapes, infections, even serious wounds, as can Spirulina .

The second step in Achieving Great Health is to add these superfoods to your diet. Start slowly, gradually increasing them until you reach a dosage of at least eight grams of each daily. (See Appendix: Spirulina, Chlorella & Water Dosages .) You can never consume too much Spirulina and Chlorella as long as they are raw and their enzymes are intact. As you increase your dosage, gradually reduce your intake of protein from traditional sources, such as meat , fish, eggs, soy and dairy products . Algae is best consumed with each meal because of its high protein content, the highest percentage of any foods known with 18 different amino acids that are in the proper ratio to one another. Protein must be consumed with everything you eat for proper digestion and nutrient absorption. Most vegetarians lack sufficient protein in their diet.

Great Health will be nearly impossible to achieve without these two powerful whole foods at the center of your diet.

The body can cure itself of any disease. If you are sick it is because you allow yourself to remain sick. Hydration, alkalization and detoxification are the three keys to preventing and curing us of any disease. Nothing is more important to the body than water and there is no better water for the human body than Ionized Water . It is a powerful antioxidant, as well as extremely alkalizing, hydrating and detoxifying. Fasting with water is the healthiest thing we can do for the body.

Spirulina and Chlorella are the two most powerful whole foods in the world. They are perfect proteins and have the broadest array of nutrients of any foods. We should replace our traditional animal protein sources, meat , fish, eggs and dairy with these two nutraceuticals, which, like all raw foods, provide the body with the proper nutrition so the body can heal itself.

Probiotics ( acidophilus and bifidus ) are friendly bacteria that help the body assimilate nutrients and keep the digestive tract clean and alkalized. They are crucial to human health and should be consumed with everything we eat.

All cooked foods are acidic, poisonous and addictive. We eat them because we like their taste and because we have been conditioned all our lives to believe they are healthy for us. Raw foods are alkaline and rejuvenate the body by providing the body with nutrients that have not been either destroyed or chemically altered by cooking. Cooking is the greatest destroyer of our health. Raw foods contain enzymes which are responsible for every movement, action or thought of the human body and mind. Without enzymes, life would not be possible.

Regular vigorous exercise is essential if we wish to achieve robust health. We should work each of our 650 muscles every day. Cultivating a positive mental attitude is also critical to our health. Self-doubt can destroy your efforts with the force of split atoms. Have faith in yourself and what you can achieve and a hero that others will want to follow will appear in your mirror one day. Amazing Technical Manual on Physical and Spiritual Reality of Death and Living a Better Life by Stephen Thomas
Did you know that Tibetan Buddhism is tantric? That is just one of the revelations of this book. It is obvious that, through the ages, the meditation masters have been observing the physical symptons of death and dying. This book explains the physical symptoms one experiences at each stage of the process of dying, described in a thick context of a metaphor of energies and levels of mind. (If you are a spiritual mystic, you'll love this! I must admit, I have had to read it a couple of times to get my Western mind to surrender -- but the journey is worth the concentration.) When I get to my death bead, instead of allowing the people around me to mourn, I have written instructions for my family to have someone read this book to me (over and over if I last that long) -- whether I'm apparently conscious or not (and I will invite the others to read Hesse's Siddhartha and go home and forgive someone they hate). Along with physical symptons of dying, this book details the journey of the mind and consciousness as the traveler experiences the only event we are all born to experience. Many thanks to the Dalai Lama and his teachers.

Scarce information presented clearly and concisely. by Islander
This particular text contains very hard to find information on the inner structure, presented in a clear, straightforward, concise and comprehensive manner: Included are descriptions of the symbols for, and the actions of, the various levels of consciousness, chakras, channels and winds and the results of prana movement through the body. This information is just not easily findable or accessible elsewhere in any one place. You could even use this information to accurately decipher ancient teaching thankas.

His Holiness has written many books and there is, of necessity I think, a great deal of similar information overlap amongst them, however he always manages to insert into each work some truly unique gem of information not readily found elsewhere. It's rather like the old children's visual game of Find The Precious Objects Hidden Somewhere In This Picture. These unique additions in the midst of familiar territory are tiny hints at the profound depth of wisdom inherent in this great teacher. Don't fret over this book's details.

Read it once through whether or not you like it, then just be patient and go back, and read it again, and yet again, and eventually, you will find it easy.

Profound, Moving and Touching by Matthew Goddard
I would recommend this book to everyone. The title is spot on, as it is rooted in the experience and wisdom of generations of human beings before us who have cultivated mindfullness and patience at the highest level.

Through understanding the processes and phenomenon involved in dying, we are thereby more equipped to face our own departure with equanimity, and grace, rather than clinging to "this life" or "this body".

Be assured that this body that you have lovingly cared for with food, clothing, shelter and other amenities of this life, will pass away, and abandon you at the time of death. It would be wise therefore to cultivate a sense of impermanence so that one might pass gracefully, without suffering or lamenting.

Through embracing death as an inevitable part of life, we cultivate compassion, empathy, and equanimity and thereby enable ourselves to live a better life.

Heart
The heart is one of the most alkaline-dependent organs in the body. It is partly enervated by the vagus nerve which functions best in an alkaline environment. Correct heartbeat is altered by acid wastes. These wastes rob the blood of proper oxygenation and degeneration of the heart follows. An alkaline system creates an ideal heart function.
    
Stomach
Digestive difficulties (belching, bloating, sensitivity at the waist, intestinal gas, regurgitation, hiccups, lack or limitation of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, colic in children) may indicate vagus nerve problems and possible hiatus hernia syndrome, which can produce acid residue throughout the system. Hiatus hernia can quickly reduce necessary hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Without proper hydrochloric acid breakdown of foods, the foods become too acidic.
    
Liver
The liver has over three hundred functions, including processing acid toxins from the blood and producing numerous alkaline enzymes for the system and is your first line of defense against any poisons. All the nourishment obtained through the gastrointestinal tract enters the blood by way of the liver. The load on the liver is much heavier when acid waste products are constantly floating in the blood. If the liver becomes too congested with protein acid wastes, death is imminent.
    
Pancreas
The pancreas is highly dependent on correct alkaline diet. All aspects of pancreatic function reduce excess acidity and regulate blood sugar balance. To have proper blood sugar balance, you must maintain a primarily alkaline-forming diet.
    
Small Intestines
The Peyer's Patches, in the upper portion of the small intestines are crucial to life. They are essential for proper assimilation of food and producing lymphocytes for the lymphatic system's wide ranging nodal network. They also produce large amounts of the enzyme "chyle", which is a major alkalizing substance. The uninterrupted flow of chyle into the system is crucial. Too much acid waste production from acid-forming foods is a great burden on the Peyer's Patches, which lessens the production of chyle.
    
Kidneys
In an adult, about 1 liter of blood per minute passes through the kidneys. By executing their primary duty, the kidneys keep the blood alkaline and extract acid. Kidneys that are over-stressed with too much acidity create kidney stones, which are composed of waste acid cells and mineral salts that have become gummed together in a waste acid substance. Therefore, by reducing acid-forming products from entering the body, the chances are better that you can avoid this painful condition.
    
Colon
The colon must be kept clean of accumulated acid wastes. Poisons collect on the colon walls and in cases of diarrhea or constipation will harden and reabsorb into the bloodstream. Good bowel action (complete elimination) must be done at least 2 times per day.
    
Lymphatic System
There are 600-700 lymph glands in the body. Lymph fluid carries nutrition to the cells and removes acid waste products. Lymph fluid flows best in an alkaline environment. When the body is overly acidic, it slows, creating one of the most chronic, long-term, life-threatening situations. Gradually, the lymph dries and begins to form very tiny to very large adhesions throughout the tissues. These adhesions can interfere not only with lymph fluid but with blood flow as well. Hindered lymph flow increases tissue acid storage. Not drinking enough purified water will also slow the lymph. Waste products from foods that are not properly digested are reabsorbed into general circulation via the lymphatic ducts of the small intestine. In addition, bowel movements that do not completely clear the body of its daily poisons are also reabsorbed.


How Negative Emotions Create Acidity:
 
Have you ever been so upset with someone or something that you get an upset stomach? All negative emotions create an acidic environment. Have you ever heard anyone say you are letting your problems "eat away at you" or "get the best of you"?
 
Fear is the underlining cause of most disease. It will undermine your life and your health. Fear causes anger. Anger causes hate. Hate will consume you with continual suffering. Love and understanding cleanse and heal the body creating an alkaline environment within you.
 
What Can You Do?
 

1. Exercise
Moderate exercise is alkalizing to the body. Excessive exercise (past the point of exhaustion) can create an acidic problem due to lactic acid buildup. People who are acidic usually feel worse from exercise because their detoxification organs are not working properly due to excessive acid in the tissues. Yet without exercise, acid and toxin buildup are likely.
       
2. Quality Air
As the saying goes - "every step you take, every breath you take ...".
If your environment is polluted with chemicals, dust, smoke, pet dander, mold, micro-organisms, then much of your energy reserve will go just in detoxifying. Today, even in the forest and near the ocean, the amount of negative ions are much lower than they were only a few decades ago. Also, since we sealed buildings to conserve energy and started making our homes and furnishings with synthetic materials, the number of cases of asthma and chronic fatigue have risen dramatically.
       
3. Food Cobining
Food combining is key to creating an alkaline environment because when you combine properly you reduce putrefaction in the body creating a more alkaline condition.
       
4. Alkalising Dietary Supplementation
When you purchase supplements you must ask yourself what your goal is and will these supplements actually help alkalize and remove acid from your body. Green drinks are very helpful in filtering out toxins and acidity in the body.
       
5. Alkaline Diet
Eating an alkaline diet is very powerful in making everything else work better. In general, it is important to eat a diet that contains both acidic and alkalizing foods. People vary, but for most, the ideal diet is 75 percent alkalizing and 25 percent acidifying (foods by volume).

If you're not open to change, forget this book... by Gwenevere
This book is a wonderful exercise in learning about yourself and why you choose the partners you choose. After my last unsatisfying two-year relationship fizzled, I took the responsibility to figure out what what I was doing to attract all the wrong men (i.e., giving so much for so little return). Initially, after the break-up I spent a year dating without a "guide" thinking I just needed to meet the right one -- but how are you supposed to meet the right one when you don't know who the right one is? Just wanting someone faithful and honest is not enough to guide you. During that time, I found Dr. De Angelis' book and started doing the the different exercises. By the time I read the book and did the exercises, I more or less had a list of traits I NEEDED in a man (things I wasn't willing to compromise on). It was a painful process to realize the man I thought I loved before was so fundamentally wrong for me. I wanted to try and read into his bad behavior that he really care and that Dr. De Angelis was a multi-divorced individual who couldn't possibly be a role-model-and-what-did-she-know-anyway?? I made excuses so I could justify to myself to stay in this bad relationship. Well, fast forward nine years: I have been with the same man continuously for almost eight years and have been married for nearly three years. By the time I met my husband I knew exactly what I was looking for, and lo and behold if he didn't hit every single mark on the list. This isn't to say we didn't have problems, because we certainly have, but I entered into this relationship knowing that I had someone willing to work as hard as I was to make our relationship work. And for once I have a man who makes our relationship Priority One (above work, family and even kids) because we both know that if our relationship isn't strong we can't help anyone else. For those out there with a negative attitude about this book -- and they were mostly from people already in bad relationships -- I just want to say, the point of this book is to create an awareness of the common warning signs of a bad relationship so you don't get into one to begin with. Too late for some, I guess.

One of the better popular titles that is out there.... by Patrick D. Goonan
This is a good book with lots of practical advise, useful exercises and thought provoking material. It invites you to look at your patterns in relationships and provides good guidelines for avoiding unhealthy people and situations.

I particularly liked the section in this book on the importance of sexual chemistry. This section also includes a useful quiz for determining how much sexual chemistry you have with a partner. This may sound unnecessary, however, this particular quiz goes beyond mere sexual attraction and includes things that reveal sexual connection in the deepest sense of the word.

I don't necessarily agree with everything Barbara De Angelis says, but there is certainly a hefty amount of wisdom between the pages of this book. She is not just telling people what they want to hear either. This makes this title more than just another "feel good" self-help book on relationship.

A journey from heartbreak to self-understanding by A Customer
Although I have read a lot of self-help books, I usually scanned them for content, assumed I had mastered them, and put them away. I possess an MSW degree, and I am a writer who specializes in mental health issues, so I always thought that I "knew it all" when it came to understanding the dynamics of relationships. I thought I had figured out how and why I messed up my marriage, and where I had gone wrong with other relationships. Boy, was I mistaken! I had not even begun to fathom the patterns and complexities that led me to make so many poor decisions about men. This book helped me to put these issues into new perspective. I did all the exercises in the book meticulously, and read it thoroughly. It opened my eyes to things about myself I was unwilling to face, or that had simply escaped my attention. I have already avoided entering into some problematic relationships because I'm now aware of the "signals" that troubled men send out, and what these signals appeal to in me. I think I'm ready for a healthy relationship, and will know how to recognize one when it comes along.

Colloidal Silver has been promoted as a wonder cure for all infectious diseases and denounced by the FDA as an unapproved and ineffective drug.  So, what are the facts?

Up through the 1940's silver medicines were sold in over four dozen forms and used as a near universal antibiotic.  They were quickly phased out with the introduction of penicillin and other patented antibiotics.  The medical literature on silver medicine from the middle of the 1800's to the middle of the 1900's is extensive.  Most of this old literature was collected, analyzed and summarized.

There have been numerous informal or anecdotal reports published on the internet.  There have also been well documented invitro (in a petri dish in a lab) studies performed on the antimicrobial effects of colloidal silver on many micro-organisms.  Some of this data is collected and summarized.

There have been informal studies on silver absorption and elimination published only on the internet.  There has also been some modern research on the microbiology of silver and silver products.  This data has also been collected and summarized.

Because of over use, over dosage and the use of more toxic forms of silver medicines, a condition called argyria (staining of the skin by silver deposits) was reported in some patients from the earlier era.  A number of prejudicial statements have been made against silver medicine because of the argyria issue.  A detailed and objective analysis with all available information is presented.  Argyria is easily avoided if it is understood.

This book does not give medical advise and does not promote silver use.  It also leaves many medical questions unanswered simply because the answers don't exist in published literature.  It does present a compilation of a massive amount of available documented information that all individuals interested in silver medicine should have.

This book is very thorough, very detailed and up to date. Compared to other books that I have read, this is an advanced rather than beginner book. I appreciated the detailed information on silver absorption and elimination and the candid and pragmatic discussion of argyria and silver toxicology. "...with good products, good information and due diligence, argyria is avoidable." This is the best single source of good information that I have found to date. In the manufacturing chapter, I found some very useful details about the process that I did not find on the internet or elsewhere. While this author is not selling products or promoting any brands or manufacturers, he does give a lot of information on medical uses and applications that are referenced to both old and recent medical and scientific publications. I liked the use of solid references to support statements and opinions.

I researched this book for over a year. I was introduced to these incredible whole foods, Spirulina and Chlorella over 4 years ago. As a vegetarian, I have never found a better source of protein, enzymes and other vital nutrients. I am not a body builder in the sense one usually thinks of a body builder. I do not sit in a gym with other muscular men and women and pump iron. While I do exercise vigorously everyday, the body building I refer to in the title of this book, and on the following pages, has to do with rejuvenating our bodies at the cellular level through the use of Nutrients and Ionized Water. What is accomplished by this is nothing short of slowing, if not reversing, the ageing process. Much to my amazement, it can be done!

Bob McCauley, CNC (Robert F., Jr.) was raised in Lansing, Michigan and attended Michigan State University (BA, 1980 in Journalism).  He has travelled extensively, both domestically and abroad, visiting over 32 countries. Best source of DMSO info on Amazon, by Niki B.
DMSO can be used for so many things which I learned from this book. I work at a compounding pharmacy where we use DMSO in some of our formulations. I had my MD write me an RX for DMSO 50% in a base and use it for back and neck pain. It worked like a miracle and since I was able to get pharmaceutical grade there is no garlicky smell at all. Might be worth seeing if your MD will write you an RX and take to your local compounding pharmacy to be sure you're getting pure DMSO.

This book has been very informative. I know my father used DMSO when I was a child and he cured his own cancer after rejecting regular medical protocols. He has been cancer free since that time and it has been forty years. I have used it to clear long time skin issues.

The healing power of DMSO discussed in this book is no exaggeration. I've been using DMSO on and off for exercise related injuries since 1983. It really works.

Depending on where it's applied, sometimes the skin will burn and itch for about 15 minutes and look like a bad sunburn afterward. This is temporary and harmless. On other places I will feel almost no sensation. It's especially effective on a fresh tissue injury. Since it quickly penetrates the skin and enters the blood stream, within a few minutes of application there is always a fishy taste in my mouth. One social side effect of frequent use is that the user will emit a fishy smell! This is a small price to pay for those in chronic pain.

At least for me, the pain killing effect of DMSO is uneven. Sometimes it will kill the pain completely, other times the effect is partial. But it always does something. Unlike prescription painkillers, DMSO's effect is cumulative. The more frequently one uses it, the less one needs. The least irritating delivery system is DMSO combined with aloe vera gel. The deodorant type applicator is too messy.

It's unfortunate that mainstream medicine has shunned this inexpensive, safe and extremely effective healer in favor of expensive, addictive and dangerous prescription drugs.

I got the book after I got the DMSO, which I found out about via a Jenny McCarthay book where she mentioned some "Mother Warrior" used it to help her autistic kid. I found an article on the net that said vitamin B12 and folic acid could be dissolved in DMSO and then applied to the skin for good absorption to cure anemia, and another article on how DMSO can cure colitis and I was hooked.

This book doesn't mention either of those treatmens using DMSO and there are a lot more exciting possibilities like using DMSO to get GABA supplements across the blood brain barrier that it doesn't touch, but the information in it is fascinating. I read the book in a day, couldn't put it down. It was very clear for a medical layman.

Basically it's a summary of a lot of research done on DMSO with a section in the beginning on what it is and how they think it works on the body. Some of the research summarized that I found interesting are the use of it within 90 min of a spinal cord injury preventing paralysis, the way it can be used on burn victims to prevent infection, numb pain, and promote healing, and the treatment of infants with Down's Syndrome to help them reach their potential and prevent some of the genetic effects it can cause.

The book also covers (briefly with no conspiracy theories) why the FDA has shut down research on this drug that was once labeled a breakthrough new medicine by them, and why doctors can't tell us about it or recommend it without fear of losing their license.

I used it for a week and my ganglion cyst completely disappeared, an unexpected but welcome side-effect!

Buy the book and the earthing products  by Cliff Beittel
Another reviewer complained that the positive reviews here are more about the results achieved with earthing products than the book itself. I'll plead guilty to that. So far I've only read the first third of the book, covering the history of Clint Ober's idea and the initial research done showing its results. But I look forward to reading the rest of the book because I've been sleeping grounded for a week now and the benefits have been far greater than I expected.

I have sticky blood, caused by hereditary high levels of Lipoprotein (a). I've had two aneurysms surgically repaired. Both my parents died of aneurysms. Six months ago, following a four-hour plane trip, I got a blood clot in my leg. After six months on Warfarin, the pain in both legs was only getting worse during long periods working at a computer, and my feet were going numb. Intense exercise helped, but not the short breaks I could take while working. I was about to spend $1500 on an electronically controlled sit-stand computer desk so that I could work standing part of the time. Sitting barefoot on the patio in the evening hadn't helped, so I wasn't expecting much when my Barefoot Connections sheet and mat arrived last week. One night of sleeping grounded, however, took me--overnight--from my worst day in six months nearly back to normal. The pain and tingling haven't returned.

I heard about earthing from the newsletter of Dr. Sinatra, a coauthor of this book. I was skeptical. But when I read that sleeping grounded can so effectively thin the blood that it should be done by those on Warfarin only with frequent INR/PT testing, I had to try it. My six months on Warfarin were coming to an end, and I clearly needed to do what I could to thin my blood and promote good circulation in my legs. Earthing has not only nearly eliminated my leg pain, but my blood pressure is now normal without medication for the first time in a decade, something diet and exercise alone never achieved.

If most reviewers here learned of earthing before the book was available, so what? What could possibly be wrong with learning about this inexpensive, healthful practice by reading the book?

First book on importance of getting vibes from Earth--"Vitamin G" for ground by Susan Schenck
An exciting, revolutionary piece of the health puzzle is connecting to the earth by walking barefoot or using "grounding" devices. Clint Ober was a cable guy without even a high school diploma. He observed that people walked with shoes that had insulating materials, such as rubber. They were not grounded. Through experimentation, he discovered that people sleep better, have far less pain, and are calmer if they are grounded. Together with health writer Martin Zucker and Stephen Sinatra, MD, Clint wrote the first book ever written that explains the importance of Mother Earth's natural "vibes" in keeping us healthy.

The authors state, "Exposure to sunlight produces vitamin D in the body. It's needed for health. Exposure to the ground provides an electrical `nutrient' in the form of electrons. Think of these electrons as vitamin G--G for ground. Just like vitamin D, you need vitamin G for your health as well."

The Earth is full of electrons and these electrons work like antioxidants, disarming the free radicals that age us. Some of the benefits of "earthing" include weight loss, diminishing pain, healing of injuries, eliminating jet lag, reduction of muscle loss with aging, enhanced immune system and reduced risk of metabolic syndrome.

The book is divided into four parts: part 1 gives the description of the problem and why grounding is needed; part 2 includes the history of discovering the importance of grounding and doctors who endorse this; part 3 includes scientific studies on earthing; and part 4 discusses the earthing revolution and various products that are used, such as grounding shoes, a grounding bed pad, and a computer pad. There is even a product for pets. This section also has lots of testimonials from people who have been helped by earthing. People have found relief from or improvement in pain, arthritis, inflammation, anxiety, insomnia, wound healing , fibromyalgia, M.S. and many more ailments. Even children with autism improve in behavior, school work and social skills. Athletes have also improved their performance via grounding. For those interested in the science and technical aspects of grounding, appendices A and B offer interesting information.

Historically, people slept on the ground or in caves. Modern life has kept us from connecting to the Earth. When reading this book, you can't wait to go out and walk barefoot! Within as little as 20 minutes, you can feel the difference. Even walking barefoot on concrete helps you connect.

Releived my fatigue and reversed my Lupus by K G. McGuinness
I started using the grounding bed sheet about 2 months ago. I have had Lupus probably for the last 10 years and even went to the Mayo clinic to try to get some relief. It started with my kidneys and over time some of the markers for lupus showed up in my blood work. This last year has been extremely stressful having to sell my house in a bad economy etc and so my condition became extremely aggravated. Signs of swelling in my face and constant fatigue kept increasing over the fall and into the new year. I felt desperate since the drugs I was taking gave me only temporary relief and then I had to deal with unwanted side effects. When I started sleeping on the grounding sheet I was hopeful both because of the clinical research studies and because of the logical explanation of how it can reduce inflammation by neutralizing the positive charge stuck in an ungrounded body. After 6 weeks I noticed I was feeling quite a bit better and finally was scheduled to go to my doctor for a checkup. When he looked at the report he said " Very Good! This is the first time I have seen your blood work come out normal. You no longer have any signs of Lupus." That confirmed my inner felling that the grounding therapy was indeed having a profound effect, way out of proportion to the simplicity of grounding and the relatively negligible cost for the sheet. I have no idea why Amazon would allow a person to rate a book a zero based on price. Ignore that one and know that this book is THE one book that makes going alkaline easy. I found this book for $28 from a UK seller and can't say enough about how easy this makes changing your diet to include alkaline choices. I have bought other books on the subject but all those really were is a listing of the acid/alkaline chart of each food.

This book has guides to stocking your pantry, cleanses, easy recipes, shopping guides and is chock full of all the information you need to start introducing a new way of eating into your life without feeling like you are on a specific diet. Fabulous and highly recommend. I know why celebrities are touting this book as a Beauty and Health bible. It's fabulous and makes it easy for us to incorporate alkaline foods and recipes into our daily lives!!

I have been recommending this book to all my patients. I am a DO in family medicine and I have taken an interest in a more functional approach to medicine and preventing disease using food. I was not eating properly and getting indigestion and after 2 days of following these recipes, it disappeared. The recipes are simple to make and delicious

Walters I bought this book to try and boost my immunity and relieve the terrible allergies that come with living in the Midwest. Some reviews criticized it for including dairy or for being a detox program... That's not how the book is setup at all. It does include limited dairy like goat cheese as a topping here and there, but that's in and certainly up to you to exclude. It does have a detox section, but that's a suggestion if you want to do a full cleanse before embarking on the alkaline diet as a lifestyle. After the detox/cleanse, you're supposed to pick and choose from the "non-cleanse" recipes as you wish.

I made meals out of this book for week for my family, and while some things looked funny, there were no complaints. After a birthday party this weekend full of cake, ice cream, and everything gluten and dairy-laden, I definitely felt the difference the next morning - full of congestion, drainage, and overall sluggishness. Those symptoms were going away while I ate on this diet, so it's definitely worth breaking some bad habits and following this book's guidelines.

Before I ate raw food, I always wanted to be cool. I wore baggy pants with trendy names and had flashy skateboards and other toys, but for some reason I wasn't cool. The harder I tried, the less cool I was. When I started eating raw food, I hid it from my peers because I thought I would be even more un-cool. Later on,  however, I found out that in their eyes eating raw food actually made me pretty cool. In fact, I noticed that a person doesn't even have to be way different to be cool. All one needs in order to be cool is sincerity. Eating healthier made me more open. I stopped caring what people said and thought about me. I became more sincere and started speaking openly. People started noticing my sincerity and as a result I made new friends. When we are sincere, people gravitate toward us.

Are you or your children worried that by eating raw food you'll lose some friends? You might lose some friends but I promise you, you'll gain three times as many new, quality friends. If you are a raw fooder it is best if you didn't seclude yourself from the rest of the world and only hang out with raw fooders. You don't have to try to convert everybody to your "raw-legion." In fact, it would be un-cool for you to say, "Stop eating that crap; that pizza's going to kill you." If you did that, you wouldn't have any friends at all! I like what Howard F. Lyman, the author of the best-selling book Mad Cowboy says, "Don't tell people what you are doing unless they ask, and when they ask, you have thirty seconds to respond. That's about how long their attention lasts. If they want to know more they will research on their own or ask more."

Occasionally, people make fun of me for eating raw food, but they're not usually too hard-core. They never say anything like, "You're stupid." They rather make fun of me gently, like, "Have some milk; oh, I forgot you can't have that cause you're crazy." I just respond with, "Yeah, I am crazy, a crazy raw fooder that is! I only eat fruit," When they hear how I start  making fun of myself, they lose interest. In Ashland, people know me as the fruit boy, I just laugh with them. I'm not afraid to make fun of myself! Because I am healthy and happy, and I don't care what people think. It's only thoughts.

Valya:
I know that I would not be the same person I am today without changing my diet. Before going on raw foods, I was failing every subject in third grade except art. I couldn't read, so naturally I couldn't write. Learning geography was out of the question; I was quite happy in Denver Colorado. History? Yeah, right. That would really come in handy. Who cares about a bunch of dead guys? I was under the impression that THEY were going to teach me without my having to do anything. I had a hard time concentrating and could not remember anything. Fact: to learn, one must have the ability to remember. My energy would bounce from so high that I would be racing through the house back and forth, to so low that I wouldn't have the energy to change the channel on the remote control.

Before I went on raw food, I had asthma. Like many other sicknesses, asthma is considered incurable. I had trouble breathing at night and could not sleep. Whenever I ran, I felt like I was suffocating. My nose was always clogged, and I was pale no matter how much time I spent outside. My health was getting worse. My favorite food were milk and cheese. (This could be the reason my asthma got so bad). I used to cut a two-inch thick slice of cheese, put it between some wonder bread, and eat it.  Sometimes I'd eat the cheese without the bread. My family would go through two gallons of milk a day. My mother bought six gallons of milk at a time so that it would last for a while. My father was capable of eating three chickens in one sitting. At the age of nine, Sergei could eat an extra-large pizza all by himself! As you can imagine, we were all overweight. The doctors discovered that Sergei had juvenile diabetes, my dad had hyper thyroid, and my mother had a bad heart condition.

Health, however, was far from being my biggest problem. I was unhappy. I tried to entertain myself with movies, restaurants, and theme parks, but pleasure could never fill my feeling empty inside. My life was slowly zipping by. Every day was just like the day before. I would often wonder where all the time went. It seemed rather fast, like
something was missing. I dreamed of adventure and doing exciting things, but it all seemed pretty hopeless. I was going to get held back in school. As soon as I went on raw food, I switched to home schooling and started learning about the things I wanted to learn about. My grades started going way up. Learning became exciting for me. I learned by following my curiosity. I found that I was full of questions. It felt like a curtain had been lifted. My brain was filled with a sharp clarity. I began to remember things so much more easily. My energy became balanced. I could sit down and study now. Reading became my favorite thing to do. I understood that I was the only one who could really teach me anything. I saw thousands of opportunities like doors in front of me and I became aware that I had to open them myself, no one could do that for me. I stopped expecting to grow up some far off day and suddenly knew what I wanted to do with my life. I realized that I already was the person I was going to be the rest of my life. My life had already begun!

Before I went on raw food I had hard time breathing, especially in spring. When my first "raw" spring came I was suddenly aware I could breath through my nose! Many of my friends had colds, runny noses, and allergies. I used to have all of those, and I had nothing! At that moment, I felt that all my suffering with food cravings was worth it. I realized that I wanted to eat raw foods for the rest of my life. After I changed my diet, I never had another asthma attack. I lost some weight and started running in the mornings with my brother. I even got to the point where I could whistle while running! Raw food has changed my life. It has made me a healthier person. When a person is healthy, it's easier to be happy. My life is definitely easier than it would have been if I had not changed my diet. I don't ever need to worry about being sick with any of the thousands of diseases, viruses, or infections. I do not need braces, glasses, or Ritalin. I don't have headaches, toothaches, earaches, colds, allergies, acne, parasites, ADD, (Attention Deficit Disorder) anorexia, or obesity. Sometimes I feel guilty that I'm not sick because I have nothing to relate with other teenagers about. My friends like to talk about their symptoms and I have nothing to say! Last week I went to the dentist. He was so surprised. He told me that I had some of the best teeth he had ever seen in a teenager.

Sergei:
Back when I was nine years old, my sister and I would talk to each other about the day we turned eighteen. This day would be a special day because on this day, we would stop eating raw food. We would dream about what kind of food we would break the diet with. Corndogs, pizza, nachos, and crab were just some of the foods we were going to order on that magical day. As the years went by this dream seemed less and less appetizing until one day when I forgot about thought altogether. I started noticing that food did not run my life as before. No longer did my whole existence revolve around it. Spending less time eating gave me more free time during the day. I began using this time for observing others and myself. I noticed how my mother, who worked sixteen-hour days, would have a huge pile of dishes waiting for her at the end of the day, or how my father, who some days did twelve massages in a row, would still have to wash the floor in the kitchen before he passed out. I observed how I felt when I just sat around watching TV while my parents worked and I pretended like I didn't notice. I still remember the day I made up my mind to wash the dishes for my mom and the floor for my dad. It was the first time in my life that I didn't try to get away with doing as little a possible. I turned on the radio to my favorite station, put on some gloves, and washed those dishes until I could see my reflection in them. The floors always seemed to me like a lot of hard and dirty work, but appeared to me surprisingly easy to do. The reward for me came when my parents, who were so used to washing the dishes and floor, came into the kitchen and found that everything was already done. It was like someone zapped them with a stun gun. It was such an incredible feeling that I decided to help them out more often. It was after that day that I had my first major revelation: I, Sergei Boutenko, enjoyed helping people! I felt good inside every time I helped someone, so I naturally started doing it more often. Once again, I learned how things in life are not always as they seem. When I avoided work and tried to get happiness from entertainment, I was unhappy. When I began working to help others, I was no longer as bored and became happy...

In Embrace Release Heal, author Leigh Fortson describes her own journey with cancer. Change usually happens at the margins. Ms. Fortson's book, "Embrace, Release, Heal", documents in an accessible, clear and straightforward manner the world of cancer treatment occurring at the margins of our society. Starting with her own compelling story of three cancer diagnoses and body altering treatments, she establishes herself as a trusted guide through the rest of the interviews in the book. With intense curiosity and an open mind, she discusses various alternative healing methods with experts in those fields. She covers everything from more traditional approaches to raw foods, intuitive healing, naturopathic medicine, epigenetics and the power of prayer.

What I liked most about this book was how Ms. Fortson weaves personal stories of cancer survivors with interviews from various experts. In this era of high-stakes, big pharma medicine, the highly personal nature of the cancer experience tends to get lost; Ms. Fortson keeps reminding us that there are many ways to walk this path. If you're dealing with a cancer diagnosis, this book will both encourage and challenge you. It will also give you resources and ideas you may not have considered before. Each chapter ends with "The Particulars": addresses, links, phone numbers, cost estimates and a section on what to expect if you choose to follow that particular healing modality.

Leigh Fortson is an extraordinary human being who has taken a personal experience with the possibility of impending death and discovered pathways to not only coping but also in aiding the body to heal. In this immensely readable book Fortson begins with her story - despite being a believer and practitioner of health ( she has co-authored books on alternative medicine, nutrition, and general health topics) she has faced three diagnoses of cancer, undergone traditional chemotherapy etc , ann faced the devastating concept of failure of treatment in addition to added diagnoses of cancer. This journey from 2006 to the present is what she shares with us, and in opening her fountain of experience/knowledge she is providing sound insights and techniques of coping with cancer.

While Fortson integrates stories from other cancer victims in her writings, the book reflects her own research into the mysteries of cancer. Her solutions may sound simple to those who have never encountered debilitating diseases, but for those who face such diagnoses this book offers enlightenment of the first order. The title of the book outlines Leigh Fortson's principles: EMBRACE, RELEASE, HEAL: AN EMPOWERING GUIDE TO TALKING ABOUT, THINKING ABOUT, AND TREATING CANCER. I just bought the Kindle version of this book and love it!The first recipe I tried was the "Spaghetti" with "Meatballs". I bought a spiral slicer to make the spaghetti with. Also the recipe for the marinara sauce is fantastic!! My Meat loving boyfroend was amazed at how good the zuchinni noodles were and actually went back for seconds!! I am so excited to try more recipes from this book and eat healthier in 2012!!

I did like this Raw Food Express, and most of the dishes can be prepared relatively quickly, but quite a few of them do require you to have made up some of the ingredients yesterday or the day before (does this count as express?) All of Matthew Kenney's "Raw Food" books are filled with delicious recipes and eye-candy photos!!! Some of his other books have more complex recipes, which are so worth the time to make, and this one is even better for us because the recipes are quick and easy.

If we are in need of taking a beautiful raw food dish somewhere, I reach for his books, and it never fails, the final dish is always beautiful and delicious. I agree, we eat with our eyes first :) Thanks for a book with a 30 minutes or less option!

Amazon wrapped this book well, it arrived undented. I appreciate books being send with cardboard and plastic wrap to keep them from being scuffed and dented. I want a new book to look new when we get it. Thank you Amazon.

I've been familiar with Matthew Kenney's raw food since dining at Pure Food and Wine six years ago. When I bought the PF&W cookbook I was floored at the amount of lead/prep time and never bothered to recreate that lasagna which still haunts my dreams. I was thrilled to see Mister Kenney release Everyday Raw; but was still too intimidated to give any of the recipes a shot (dehydrators, food processors and soaking: oh my!)

Enter Everyday Raw Express. Finally, great tasting (and healthy) Raw food a la Kenney that is a snap to prepare. The Spaghetti & Meatballs were amazing. I reduced the amount of tahini in the recipe since tahini overpowers most elements it is mixed with and the results were stunning. Mom and I loved it. Can't wait to make this again.

I now have the confidence to move forward in preparing raw food and look forward to preparing more recipes in this book and Everyday Raw.

Thanks, Matthew & co. for helping me get on track with raw food. Hope to see more another Everyday Raw Express-like title in the future.
